DIY Natural Moisturizing Skin And Hair Mist

If you live in a part of the world where winters are very dry, I totally feel you. Dry air has a tendency of sucking the moisture out of everything it comes in contact with — including our skin and hair.

That’s okay, though! We have way too much knowledge to let ourselves fall victim to this. We can just make our own mist to lock that moisture in wherever we go! The other thing that’s excellent about this creation is that it smells wonderful. It’s like perfume heaven for your skin and hair — and you can customize the scent to be whatever your little desires.

Wavy hair, white top

Ingredients:

Rose water, diluted halfway with water (learn to make your own here!)
Vegetable glycerin (can be found at most health food stores — you can sub in jojoba oil if necessary)
Essential oil (make your own mixture — I used jasmine and lavender)

DIY all-natural moisturizing hair mist

To make, fill a 5-ounce atomizer bottle about 3/4 of the way with your diluted rosewater. Add 1/2 tablespoon of glycerin (or jojoba oil), and about 10 drops of essential oil. Screw the top on and shake! If there’s extra space, you can add some more rosewater. Make sure to shake before each use, as the ingredients can settle with time!

This is a great little spray to carry around in your purse for whenever your hair or skin is feeling dry — or if you just need a little pick-me-up. It’s especially great for travel, and if you use a small enough bottle, you can take it right with you on a plane. :) Use citrus-y scents like lemon or grapefruit to give a boost of energy (but add more glycerin — these can be drying), or calming scents like lavender or sandalwood to ease your mind.

DIY moisturizing hair mistI used a little thread to tie a piece of a stick and a tiny feather to my bottle. I have many bottles at home that look the same since I love making my own beauty products, so this is an adorable way to know which is which.

I’m definitely making this over the weekend – it gets down to -40 where I live, so my skin and hair is constantly dry. I have a citrus blend of essential oils that will work with this perfectly.

I’m in Miami so the weather isn’t drying but the air conditioning is. If you are in an office with very cold air conditioning, it has pretty much the same effect. At least my hair and skin felt really dry all the time.
This is really cool and I love the idea of throwing it in your purse or traveling with it for a refreshing feeling.
Keep bringing the great ideas! :)

I love this! Adding geranium and ylang ylang as well as the lavender would make a nice floral scent!

Hi, great and simple beauty recipe !

Just be cautious with citrus essential oils, some are sun-sensitizing.
