There are a handful of girls in our office who do the retro look very, very well — and one of these girls just so happens to be our head stylist Amanda.
This lady can always be spotted in incredible vintage pieces that seem to have been collected over the course of many years — pieces that she often mixes with newer styles for a revived retro look.

We’re all really embracing the retro trend right now, so I asked Amanda to share 5 of her favorite retro-looking pieces that we have online right now… and to give us some expert insight as to why she loves each one. ;)
Autumn Culotte One Piece – Great piece to have going into spring. Such an easy throw-on piece when you can’t be bothered with putting an outfit together! Haha!
20/20 Denim Skirt – Always love a high-waisted skirt! So feminine and flattering for us girls who are a little curvy! Try pairing it with the Mod Rocker Cami in red and on cooler days throw on our Classic Biker Jacket and ballet flats!
Hi Rise Roller Skinny – It’s all about a high-waisted jean this spring!! High-waisted is the way to go! Looks so flattering on, makes your legs look longer, your waist seem slimmer, and so good for the butt! Haha! I love wearing this pant in black with our black/white stripe low back seamless, with a denim jacket and red ballet flats! Classic Frenchie look!
Ruby Tuesday Mini Dress in black (pictured above in blue)– Love this dress! It’s super short and flirty and has that 40’s vintage vibe! So cute paired with a boyfriend army jacket like our Hi Flyer Coat!
Wool Fisherman Cap in black – Great throw-on hat when your hair is having an off day! Love this with vintage band tee tucked into high-waisted denim jeans!

the ruby tuesday dress is gorgeous!!!! so different than anything else i’ve seen lately too and nothing like i have in my closet but so classic and vintage looking! are you coming out with it in black too?????? id so buy that ;)
Her jumper is super cute. Nothing like changing up your wardrobe with some retro inspired pieces. Unfortunately, I have to avoid skinny jeans like the plague (hourglass figure problems), but I think nearly anyone could rock that Ruby Tuesday dress.
That culotte jumper is fab! I had a dress like the ruby tuesday and got rid of it because I thought it was dorky, now I wish I’d kept it…
Hello! I’m obsessed! Also, how do I get in contact with Amanda to ask how she became a stylist? I am an aspiring stylist that just got a job with Free People South Coast Plaza, I am so excited!! My goal is become a stylist for your company because I love, love, love what Free People represents, the lifestyle the girls lead and how she is 26! (Just so happens to be me). Also, thank you for brightening my mornings with this blog, it is such an inspiration!

What’s funny is that I still wear short jean skirts, and my friends always tell me how that’s too “old school” or how I’m too old for that style. I’m glad that I stay true to my own style. :)
Ren, Concerning what comment’s are made about your jean skirts!! I too wear short jean skirts. To me most denim pieces; never go out….. I wear what I like, and take other’s comment’s, consider what is said. But, like you pointed out: that you “stay true to my own style.” HOORAH for YOU! Please Ren, Stay the way you are!
I never tried jean skirts, but it looks so nice here, i think i will try in summer
