Glastonbury Photo Diary

This post comes from our friend Geneva of the blog A Pair & A Spare!

The best weekend of the year has just come and gone – top tier bands, delectably healthy food, the friendliest of atmospheres and, of course, MUD – clearly I’m talking about Glastonbury. If you follow my blog you’ll know that I’m a Glasto addict – I mean what could be better than camping in a damp field with a cider and all my favourite bands?

With over 200,000 people attending and another 30,000 crew, you might think Glastonbury would be an overwheming experience leaving you drained and wishing for home, but with a few festivals under the belt I can say with authority that it’s anything but. Not only does it have something for everyone – with whole areas dedicated to every type of music from jazz to dance as well as non-music related activities such as circus and poetry – but there is an unrivaled atmosphere of happiness (I’ve never met such a friendly and courteous bunch!) and honestly the best food I’ve ever tasted (everything from Indian street food to authentic felafels). You can’t help but want to stay forever.

This year heavy rain produced the tidal wave of mud that Glasto is so well known for – which dictated in many ways a need for functional festival style, with wellies being the starting point of every outfit. Luckily we were blessed with some sun at beginning and ends of the weekend which made it all worthwhile and allowed legions of mermaid inspired outfits take centre stage – never before have I seen so much blue hair! Polizia, The Black Keys, J5,  Hozier, and Haim were stand out acts, with mealtimes (a pre-requisite every hour) being another favourite moment. I’ve already started counting down for next year!
