Washed Ashore In Bali

This post comes from April, AVM and Social Media Specialist of Free People Aspen.

A place that is so surreal that it feels like you just stepped into the pages of your favorite book. A place where nights are just as warm as the days, and smiles from the locals never end. A place where you can feel the endless gratitude of simply being alive. This is Bali. A place I will never forget and a place for which I will be counting down the days until I return.

This past May I had the amazing opportunity to team up with Australian photographer Beck Rocchi to bring a love of Free People and FP Me across the ocean to the beaches of Uluwatu, Bali. I spent three blissful weeks there, where everyday I woke up feeling like I was apart of a dream.

Bali is a place that is hard to put into words; its beauty is in everything.  Not only in its jungles and beaches but also in its people and culture. The Balinese believe in being grateful for every day they get to live and every opportunity they get to experience. It is here that they create beautiful handmade offerings to give back to the Divine.  These blessings of flowers, rice, leaves, and incense represent the elements of our world. They do this every morning outside of every home and business to say thank you, and maintain the balance of good and evil in the universe.  This is something I cherished very much from my trip to Indonesia and something I brought back with me to remind myself how lucky I am to be a part of such an amazing life I call my own.

My wish is for you to make it to Bali one day. I long for you to experience such a place in all its beauty. The feeling of being able to take a step back and be inspired by just waking up each day and experiencing a culture and its surroundings is an extraordinary gift – one I will never forget.

“One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.” – Henry Miller
