Decor Inspiration: Fall 2014 Store Displays

It’s always a nice treat to step outside of the office and visit the Walnut Street store here in Philly.

I stopped by this week after I heard that the fall 2014 displays had been installed. Each season, I’m blown away at the amount of creativity that is put forth to create these amazing displays. They are always intricate, and provide a visually pleasing and welcoming atmosphere for anyone who walks in. I love that no matter what is hanging from the ceiling, or draped in the front window, it always has that special hand touched quality that Free People is all about. From woven textiles placed throughout, to copper covered leaf mandalas lining the walls, the stores this season will transport you to an exotic local, while giving you that warm and cozy fall feeling.  I got to talk to our District Display Manager, Sam, about the 2014 fall displays, and she shared a few words about the inspiration behind them!

“The fall display is a marriage of inspiration from Tibet, India and Morocco. Woven textiles and yarn from Marrakesh mix with needlepoint panels inspired by Tibetan tapestry patterns. We love that the customer could feel a cozy fall vibe from the display whilst simultaneously being transported to an exotic and unexpected locale. We hope she is inspired! Lastly, pops of copper metal give the set some shimmer and glamour to balance out all the soft elements.”

Here’s a peek at what you can expect to see inside our stores this season!

Looking gorgeous! I love the way that antique textiles make space feel. I thrifted some textiles from Morocco yesterday and I’m stoked… loads of geometric shapes and natural wool.

How do you get a job in visual display? Do they hire artists to do this kind of work?
