Sweet and Savory Pineapple Snack

I’m a sucker for simple and delicious recipes that require little effort to make.

Pineapple is one of my favorite fruits – not just for the taste, but because of the shape, color, and how much it reminds me of the summer. It’s quite photogenic too.

When I heard that combining salt and spicy chili powder on top of sweet pineapple was a thing, I got really excited. Savory, salty, and sweet? Perfect. I thought about ways to make this summery treat even better, and the result is something that will have your taste buds jumping for joy.

Inspired by this recipe, here’s how to make a super easy – and incredible delicious – sweet and savory pineapple snack!

ingredients

What you need:

Pineapple

Honey

Chili Powder

Himalayan Sea Salt

drizzled with honey

Take a few slices or chunks of pineapple and drizzle the top with honey – more for extra sweet, less for more savory.

sprinkled pineapple

Sprinkle some sea salt and chili powder on top on the honey covered pineapple.

chilli powder and pineapple

I used about 3 pinches of salt, and 2 pinches of chili powder to cover three slices of pineapple. Add more or less depending on your taste preference.

It’s as easy as that! Enjoy :).

I love mixing fruits with savory ingredients! In fact, I almost prefer it. I’ve put garam masala on watermelon before, and it was amazing. This sounds really yummy – might try grilling it with the chili powder as well!

Stoked about this recipe! In India, if you buy cut pineapple from a stall the vendor always puts black salt and sometimes chili on it, and it’s pretty addictive.

Yum. I love pineapple (and a lot of other fruit) spiked with a similar concoction called taijin. (In the southwest and mexico, it’s common to eat fruit, cucumbers, and other vegetables with the stuff- it’s really just a blend of chili powder, dehydrated lime juice, and salt).
