This weekend, while the rest of the fashion world descends upon NYC, I’ll be making my own escape.I’m off to the wild and wonderful mountains of rural West Virginia to celebrate the marriage of two close friends. Sure, there’s a part of me that’s just itching to be in the city amid the frenetic NYFW crowds, but really there’s no place I’d rather run off to than a quiet mountain town, especially when it’s been taken over by the people I love.
Because I’ll be attending a wedding, my aim is to strike the right balance between cute and comfortable for the road trip there, and dance floor-ready for the event itself. Here’s what I’ll be packing:
The drive from Philly to western West Virginia is a long one, so I want to make sure I’ll be comfortable in the car. I love the juxtaposition between this delicate mesh top and the destroyed denim, a combination that always feels comfortable but intentional. An oversized cardigan is always a great piece to throw in your bag, you never know if the weather might cool off at night or when you’ll be chilled by the AC.
Get the look: Lindsey Embroidered Top, Raw Destroyed Boyfriend Jean, Boyfriend’s Embrace Cardigan, JV One Star Chucks, Big Fork Tote, It Suits You Baseball Cap, Shield Layered Necklace.
When it comes to choosing what to wear to a wedding, my main priority is being able to dance. All night. Which means flats. This pair features a pointed toe, which can give the effect of an elongated leg without the heel. For an evening wedding, toughen up a vintage-inspired tulle dress with a floral moto jacket, but be sure to add some statement jewelry to keep the effect dressed-up.
Get the look: Floral Impressions Jacket, Tutu Tea Length Dress, Lietta II Flat, Double Merging Quill Collar.
Where are you off to this weekend? Be sure to share in the comments!

I live in the catskill mountains in upstate ny. Comfort is key and so is layering. Your choices are perfect love both looks. Have a great time!
I love the way your prioritize dance in your attire – a true Free People woman! That dress is perfect – and your casual look is so so sweet!
