A Festival Unlike Any Other

‘A festival unlike any other’…. that was Festival Number 6’s tagline, and it wasn’t until we arrived at the site in Portmeirion, Wales, on Friday morning that we understood why. The award winning festival, now in its third year, is set in the jaw-droppingly beautiful surroundings of the Italianate-inspired Welsh coastal village right on the seafront. The buildings make you feel like you are in a toy town and the view of the estuary and mountains are quite simply breathtaking.

The main village was home to the Central Piazza stage – surrounded by water fountains and deck chairs to rest our feet, the Piazza hosted music, poetry, comedy, readings, and even a Brazilian Carnival style dance party! In the forest, the Woodlands Stage was the perfect place to escape the sun and dance. And further on, in the middle of the stunning Chinese Lake, was the fantastic Village Limits floating dance floor!

The weather was very kind to us, so we spent a lot of time by the Estuary Stage pool overlooking the White Sands Bay, listening to chilled rock n roll and watching the paddle boarders. The music highlights of the weekend at the Main Stage were the incredible London Grammar, who headlined on Friday night and performed their gorgeous debut album If You Wait. Tom Odell’s passionate and electric performance on Saturday night was the perfect way to see the sun set on our last UK festival of the year! The countdown for next year has officially begun…

It really is this stunningly beautiful, so glad to see one of my most treasured parts of the UK on here. I have not been to the festival (YET!) but i drive to this part of the North Wales Coast 2-3 times a Year just to dip in the sea and walk for miles. Love this x

Divine! I love the landscapes with the beaches and lawns – the details are so so pretty too. I’ve been to a couple of US festivals and the scenery does not match up!

Warm Regards,
Alexandra

Hey! There wouldn’t happen to be any job openings for free people in the UK? I’ve looked around but can’t seem to find anything about the UK market.

Love and magical wishes!

This village was the setting of the 1960’s UK television series, The Prisoner. It’s called Festival No. 6 because the main character, forced to live in a creepy prison disguised as a quaint village, is issued a numerical identity (No. 6). A phrased used during the course of the series is “A Village Like No Other”. It’s an amazing show worth checking out : )
