FP Me Stylist Of The Week: FPMeganJennifer

I have to say, I’m a little jealous of where Megan gets to call home.

Arizona is a crazy place, and I mean that in the best way possible. I’ve been twice now, the most recent trip while passing through last week on the road. I’ve only dipped my toes in, but that’s all you really need to get a feel for how beautiful her home state is. No wonder her pictures are so killer.

A student, a Free People store stylist, a blogger… Megan Jennifer stays busy being a creative who inspires us all here At FP. She’s your girl next door, but the girl next door who’s one step ahead on every adventure. Get to know FPMeganJennifer below!

Where are you from? How has this shaped the person that you are today ?

I was born in the city of Phoenix, Arizona and was raised here amongst the cacti in the desert. Since I wouldn’t consider myself much of a hot weather person, living here has given me the desire to travel as much as I possibly can and become inspired by other cultures.

Where do you currently call home? Any hidden gems in your city that you can share with us?

I currently call a small apartment in Tempe, Arizona my home, it is close to the college I attend and very convenient. As for hidden gems, I really love visiting different restaurants! One of my current favorites is Flower Child in Scottsdale, AZ,  they have tons of great vegetarian options (which I love) and I have had nothing but wonderful experiences there.

How do you typically spend your days?

As of right now, I am in college studying fashion design, which takes up a good chunk of my week! On the days I am not attending school, you can usually find me at work or spending time with people that are close to me.

How did you find your way to Free People? What’s your favorite part about your job?

A couple of years ago, I received a Free People catalog in the mail and instantly fell in love. I have wanted to work for the company since I was 15 years old and was so thrilled when I was hired back in August of 2014. My favorite part of my job is connecting with customers and finding them something they love, whether it’s for everyday wear or a special occasion.

Your pictures capture my attention time and time again. Is photography something you’ve always been drawn to?

First of all, thank you so very much! And yes, I have been interested in design aesthetic and photography since I was very young and I find that it is both a fun and relaxing hobby.

What do you think makes a perfect shot?

I find that composition is really important, you don’t want photos to look too staged or artificial, so letting your natural beauty shine through is always the best bet.

What’s one thing you are willing to share with us that a stranger walking down the street wouldn’t be able to tell from first glance?

Something that people might not know about me is that I am a complete and total movie nerd. My dad and I play a game where he will turn on a random movie channel, and I will have to guess which movie is on by listening to a few seconds of it! We have been doing this ever since I remember and I am (almost) always right.

If you had to move to another state or country besides the one you live In now, where would it be, and why?

I would definitely love to move to San Francisco, California. I find that the culture in San Francisco is exactly the type of creative atmosphere that I feel I would flourish in. Being around other creative individuals always inspires me to be my most creative self. I love having others with a similar mindset to bounce ideas off of and I feel like that would be a common happening in San Francisco!

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

My mom has told me since I was very young that we are survivors. This speaks to me as I know that any hardship or difficult time can be endured and whatever it is, I will get through it because it’s in my blood.

What does being ‘free’ mean to you?

To me, being ‘free’ means being authentic to yourself, despite what other people may want or pressure you to do. Everyone is unique and that is what makes this beautiful world that we live in interesting! Where would the fun be if everyone did what they were told?

Love Megan’s style, seems so effortless! And the photos are amazing! Wish I had time to visit gorgeous places like these every time I took outfit photos! Yorkshire is beautiful but taking time to travel anywhere when you work full time is difficult to say the least!
I just bought my first Free People dress yesterday and I know I am forever hooked!
Amazed by all the details, and I know it’ll be my favourite dress until I get a new one! :)
