Do you guys feel me? It’s funny that in today’s age, thinking in emoji’s is actually a thing. Or maybe that’s just me…

Either way, Natalie Phillips has an FP Me profile that’s pretty wicked. Makes sense that she’s a blogger, too. Pretty locations, awesome style, an ease in front of the camera… you can tell that she knows what will make a good picture. Where are you from? How has this shaped the person that you are today?

I’m from Brandon, Mississippi. When I was younger I used to always wish I were from a huge, thriving city. Being older now, I’ve come to appreciate spending 22 years of my life in such a small town. Growing up in Mississippi has been humbling and eye opening in many ways. I mean, you’re not just handed opportunities in Mississippi, you have to really fight for what you want and sometimes, create your own opportunities, especially when you’re interested in fashion like me. That has forced me to become independent and extremely hardworking and for that I’m forever grateful.

Where do you currently call home? Any hidden gems in your city that you can share with us?

Starkville, Mississippi is home until I finish up school. I think the hidden gem of Starkville is just the fact that the town is so small. I have the ability to walk to my nightly yoga class or to the coffee shop. I love being in such close proximity to everything, especially those two places.

How do you typically spend your days?

Well I’m currently a senior in college right now studying fashion merchandising and marketing, so classes take up most of my weekday mornings. The rest of my days are spent working at a local magazine where I style the monthly fashion spreads. On the weekends I am usually spending time with my family/friends or collaborating with photographers on photoshoots for either my blog or styling projects. I’ve never been able to stop moving.

What inspired you to start your blog?

Starting a personal style blog was very natural for me. I’ve been modeling since I was 16, which opened a lot of doors and exposed different positions within fashion. I’ve always loved to express myself through clothing and to share that with others just made sense. I love helping women find something they feel beautiful in and can style in ways that is unique to their personal aesthetic.

For any new readers, what can they expect to see or learn?

They can expect to see photos from my recent travels, daily wear, and of course, more Free People.

If your style was directly related to a character in a movie, who would it be?

Jane Birkin, hands down. That effortless, boyish style is what I go for daily.

What’s one thing you are willing to share with us that a stranger walking down the street wouldn’t be able to tell from first glance?

That I would rather drink hot tea and watch a movie on a Saturday night. I get most of my energy from my own solitude. I’m a huge introvert and most people would think I’m kinda lame :)

If you had to move to another state or country besides the one you live In now, where would it be, and why?

This is such a difficult question because I want to live in a lot of different places for a little while. I’ve always dreamed of living somewhere in California, though. The west coast makes me feel totally alive. I need to be surrounded by that constant creativity and passion to fully evolve into the best version of myself and I feel that California has that for me.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

Ever since I can remember, I’ve witnessed my mom express love to anybody and everybody she comes in contact with on a daily basis. She reminds me to love people, regardless of the way they act towards you.

What does being ‘free’ mean to you?

Being free to me means designing a life you love and can fully flourish in without regard to outside circumstances. Find your passion, let go of fear and just live your dream.
