To Be Lucky

This post comes from our blog intern, Aubrie!

Have you ever thought about what it means to be lucky? Sometimes it feels like we have good luck and sometimes our luck is bad, but are there choices involved in bringing either kind upon ourselves?

Luck is indeed very important in life, but often times people have a skewed definition of the term. By definition, luck is the force that seems to operate for good or ill in a person’s life, seemingly shaping circumstances, events, or opportunities.  Many people think this translates into finding one hundred dollars on the street by chance. Yet in reality, luck is having a fulfilling life that you are proud of.

Being lucky is waking up to your best friend and love of your life every morning. Being lucky is the ability to make a life doing something that you truly love. Being lucky is experiencing all the adventures you’ve ever dreamed of. This good luck will find you when you allow it to. If we look at luck as controllable, then our luck becomes an important success factor.

Lucky people are those that practice optimism and gratitude, make good decisions, work hard, maintain an open mind, and set goals for themselves. Through these powerful practices, they invent their own future and as a result, more opportunities become available. I believe each and every person has the power to make themselves lucky and the very first step is to believe they are just that. Once you have empowered yourself you will notice all of the lucky details of your life.

So celebrate this St. Patrick’s Day, in a different way today! Take the time to count the lucky stars you already have in your life and then get inspired about making your own luck for the future.

All that you’ve written is true. We often forget the true meaning of being lucky.

Love this – sometimes I have a hard time with the word luck, because it’s so interchangeable with the word blessed – but whatever we are, it truly does happen through gratitude, and being good and doing good for others too! xo

Great outlook on what luck actually is. You don’t pick up a four leaf clover and then have everything go your way. Thank you for this, much needed this st. patty’s day morning!

Sometimes I feel as if life is so unfair, and this was so inspiring. Thank you!
