FP Me Stylist Of The Week: Fpmorganjones

I think Morgan states it best: “Free People is so much more than a brand. It’s a community.”

That’s one thing I love so much about FP Me. It’s a place where people can share and inspire, and connect with like-minded others. Morgan is one of those gals whose images add a little magic to the pot. As a social media specialist for Free People Nashville, she has an eye for knowing what’s striking. Her profile reminds me of a cool dream, it’s visually pleasing without a doubt. I got to find out a little bit more about this stylist of the week, and now it’s your turn. Have a read below!

Describe your hometown. What’s one of your fondest memories of growing up there?

I moved around quite a bit as a kid, so there was never really a town that I called home before Nashville. I did live in Texas for a couple years, though, and one of my favorite memories was going on bike rides with my family to get ice cream. There is something about the simplicity of that memory that warms my heart.

Where do you currently live? Any hidden gems you’re willing to share with us?

I moved back to Nashville in December after living in Savannah for a few months. Nashville is the first place that has ever felt like home to me, and I really regret leaving! This week I’m moving into my first place, which is pretty rad. I’ve never paid much attention to interior design, but I’ve recently discovered how much I love it.  Having a place full of things that inspire you and mean something to you is so important.

As far as hidden gems go, I recommend the Nashville Flea Market! It’s always the last weekend of the month, which sometimes feels like FOREVER, but I have found some amazing pieces!

How did you find your way to Free People?

I like to think it found its way to me somehow! I applied for the job when I was 17, and I was hired a couple days after I turned 18. I feel like I’ve always been in love with the brand – mostly because it’s so much more than just a brand. It’s really a community. Even outside of work, we are all friends and we all share personal relationships with our customers. I love it!

What’s a typical day in the life of Morgan look like? What are you wearing, who are you with, where are you going?

A day in my life is really simple. I try to start off most mornings with my handsome boyfriend, Colin. He’s super picky about his eggs, so I let him cook while I play a little Ryan Adams or Johnny on our Crosley. I basically live in my Willie Nelson tee and a good hat (which Colin sometimes fights me over). After that, every day is different. Some days we have a TV show marathon, other days we go check out some places we’ve never been before!

Your FP Me profile has been built out with some pretty amazing photos. What do you think are three key ingredients for creating a great image?

Aw thank you! I think that it is so important to have fun during a shoot, to get to know the person behind the camera or in front of it, and to find an exciting location.  Once the photographer and model establish a relationship, the day somehow becomes comfortable and light-hearted. Then to top it all off, you have an amazing setting!

Do you oftentimes work with a photographer to concept a shoot?

Yes – all the time! As a stylist and social media specialist for Free People, I am consistently collaborating with locals. Each photographer I shoot with has a different vibe and a unique source of inspiration.  When our visions meet – it’s pure magic.

What’s an ideal weekend consist of for you?

Being outside and eating good Mexican food with my friends is always an ideal weekend for me! I’ve also fallen in love with the Belcourt Theatre recently, so I try to go there as often as possible! It’s this cute little theatre that opened in like 1925 or something like that, and I’ve seen a fair share of my favorite independent movies there!

What songs have you been playing on repeat recently?

Oh man, how many can I mention?  I rediscovered Bruce Springsteen’s Wrecking Ball record recently, and that has been on repeat for months.  I also love “My Diamond Is Too Rough” by Ryan Bingham.

If I had to choose a favorite though, it would be Augustana’s “Reckless”. He is a new Nashville resident and one of the most humble people. That’s so rare these days… It’s truly inspiring.

What does being “free” mean to you?

There was a moment a few nights ago when I had the windows down in my car, the weather was perfect, and the music was up as loud as it could go. I turned to Colin and told him this was one of those moments. I was “free”.

I think that being free is all about accepting who you are and living life the way you want to. I know that loving and knowing yourself is something that is difficult for everyone at some point in his or her life. Heck, I know its something I’ve been struggling with for awhile. But, once you know yourself – and I mean really know yourself – you will be free.  Free to be who you are, who you were born to be, who you want to become.
