Welcome Summer with FP Me Atlanta

Hazy skies, lush cascading greenery, the lazy buzz of sun-dazed bees making their way from flower to hive and back again…

Spring may only be halfway through, but no one’s told that to Atlanta, where those balmy days of summer have already arrived.

On just such a day — bees buzzing, sun shining, heat quickly rising — FP Dawn and I made our way to Free People White Provision to meet up with a group of seven FP Me users and store employees for an afternoon of shooting at The Big House On Ponce, a gorgeous art collective and Air BNB housed in, you guessed it: A large, historic home. It’s not everyday that a rogue chicken will squawk through the background of your shot, rustled up and on defense against the surprise guests, but that’s what I love about these shoots. Occasionally chickens show up and you just have to deal with it… it’s their house, after all. After exploring each and every nook, cranny, room, and school bus — yes, there was even a converted school bus on the premises, talk about dream home — we parted ways with The Big House and made our way to Sun in My Belly Cafe for some much needed sustenance and lots and lots of coffee (for me, anyway).

Atlanta, for all it’s shining newness, allows glimpses into its past if you’re sharp enough to look for it. Through peeling paint and ghosted signs, the antiques arranged lovingly outside a small storefront; the words have already escaped my lips more than once, but this balmy, summery city completely won me over on this trip and my only regret is not diving in more. After a laughter-filled morning of photos and styling, and the most delicious lunch I believe I’ve ever had, we returned to the store to begin preparing for the evening’s festivities, all feeling exhilarated and content in the new friendships and camaraderie that had formed on that early summer day.

Love all the tie dye and flowiness! I just started a blog to document my experience as an English teacher in Thailand and did a post about the traditional indigo-blue dyed fabric that is unique to my village. Check it out!
