This post comes from our blog intern, Natalie!
Two thousand three hundred and ninety-three miles of open air separate me from the California coast I call home. The familiar stillness that was so recently filled with the rhythmic crashing of ocean waves and seagull’s cries is now a steady murmur of car engines and the voices of city dwellers passing by my window. I am one of them now. I’ve left behind all things familiar and comfortable to embrace the opportunity to intern this summer in Philadelphia for BLDG 25. I couldn’t be happier about this new adventure and new home.
With each passing day I spend in this city, I grow more infatuated with its charm. I’ve taken the time to wander down the tree-lined streets surrounding my abode, allowing my senses to become consumed with the novel environment. The way the air feels heavy as I take deep breaths, and the peculiar aromas that pour out of the mom and pop restaurants that seem to occupy every street corner. A page in my notebook is rapidly becoming covered in an ever-growing list of things I want to do and see while living in Philly this summer, and I couldn’t be more excited to be here.
