Is there anything more romantic than witnessing two friends exchange their vows on a shell-speckled beach, gulls calling their good tidings from above as waves gently meet the shore?
Beach weddings are an event all their own that call for a look that is at once laid-back and carefully constructed. Breezy fabrics, comfortable footwear, and perfectly imperfect undone hairstyles.
To help us get the perfect beach wedding-ready hair, we enlisted the help of Nashville-based hairstylist Leah Hoffman. I first became a fan of Hoffman’s personal aesthetic through her Instagram, where she shares her style, bits of her home, and of course her enviable mane, but this stylist is more than just an inspiring Insta account. As part of the amazing staff that makes up Nashville salon Parlour & Juke, she serves up the kind of cut and color that people travel great distances for. Today, Leah is sharing two beach-ready looks, perfect for a bridesmaid or guest (or even a laid-back bride). Check them out below and stay tuned for a countryside look from Leah later in the week!
BRIDESMAID BEACH LOOK
Beginning with washed and blow-dried hair, lightly brush-tease to add texture and hold. It’s important not to smooth or over-style — this look is all about texture!
For added length, clip in a track of extensions. This step is optional, of course, but helps to add length to shorter styles.
Next, add in the Leather Hair Braid-In beneath the crown.
Wrap the first leather hair wrap around a section of hair at the crown.
Then separate the hair into two more sections (bottom left, bottom right). Wrap each section with leather.
Take left and right sections and twist together and secure with a small hair elastic. Let top section down and pin where you want it.
Curl pieces around the face and finish with spray, like Oribe Dry Texture and R&CO Mannequin.

GUEST BEACH LOOK
As a beach wedding guest, I love the idea of just going with your natural texture and enhancing it for an effortless, lived-in look.
Begin by wrapping sections of hair around a large-barrel curling iron.
Once it’s all curled, flip your head upside-down and spray with a texturizer like Oribe Dry Texture.
Shake it out!
Next, add lots of random braids throughout, no rhyme or reason. The less you try the better it looks.
Take a comb and tease the ends for an easy cute alternative to the rubberband.
