Weekend Do: Find A Hidden Gem

Sometimes it’s inevitable to always be content with your surroundings.

As big as cities can be, there are times when they can feel small… when it feels like every option has been explored, every thing to do has been exhausted. I find myself feeling this way occasionally, especially in reference to my specific neighborhood. I really do love it, but there’s some weekends where I’m at a loss for coming up with a new agenda. If I fall into a routine of replicating the same weekend plans one after the next, this is when I start to feel a little trapped. It leaves me wanting change; a new landscape to explore, or ready for the next adventure to pull me away. There’s nothing/no one to blame for this feeling except for myself. If you want something, you have to go out and get it, right?

As familiar as I think I am with Philly, there’s so much I’ve yet to discover. Point was proven a few days ago, actually.

Julie and I found a little pavilion in the sky, held up by gridded wood that only allows geometric shadows and traces of sunlight in with its visitors. It’s tucked away in a park I’ve been to a number of times, but out of site enough that it’s hard to find without a little help from a friend. Nothing too grand, but it was exactly the hidden gem I was looking for to reassure me of all the secrets in this city there’s still left to find.

This weekend, I’m challenging you all to step outside of your norms, and go some place you’ve never been. It could be a new part of town, or it could be the restaurant down the block you’ve always said you’ve wanted to try, yet still haven’t put your foot over the threshold.

Amazing! I’m going to be staying with my uncle and aunt for an internship. Doesn’t sound adventurous but it’ll be so exciting for me!

this is so true. i live in a small village-y type neighbourhood but most of the time i don’t even pay attention or seek a little adventure around it. just this summer i decide to do this exact idea, to photograph things around me and just find new things! love this post :)
