Toronto-based makeup artist Misty Fox shares her tips and tricks for looking and feeling your best for your big day (and beyond).
The wedding day. At no other point in life, at least for me, has makeup ever been quite so intimidating. You want to look gorgeous, that’s a given, but you also want to look like you. Natural, but refined. Polished, but relaxed. The possibilities are enough to make your head spin, or at least, make you call in a professional.
That’s exactly why today we’ve enlisted the expertise of Toronto-based makeup artist and hairstylist, Misty Fox. A one-two punch, if you will, of all things wedding day beauty. Read on for Misty’s tips and tricks for looking (and feeling) you best for your big day and for the days that follow.
I surrounding myself with small trinkets and beautiful, functional treasures: golden dishes for my Q-Tips, a pot of cream with a rose gold lid. On your wedding day, surround yourself with love, beautiful smells and happy smiles!
Understated, cute collections of bottles and jars, as though you’d combed through a beach-side market, make for a beautiful setting in which to prepare. I don’t like to match everything. I like to be free.
Iridescent shimmer upon brilliant chrome eyelids, caught by the light of the moon. Pressed pigments and stains create an innocent yet glamorous beauty, perfect to catch the light of the day and the glow of the night.
Dewy and flawless flushes of colour kiss the apples of the cheeks.
Soft, kissable lips, tinted and shaped with rose tones.
The look is polished, but still free and peaceful. Soft application with a subtly defined lashline with crushed metal eyeshadows pressed on to the lids.
Girls should always receive fresh flowers: it’s the prettiest form of appreciation for how wonderful we women are.
You are the star of the day. Enjoy it: the dreams and magic, the love and the music. This is your day and you should have the most fun.
Your make up and hair shouldn’t change you – it should empower you as you are: the best version of yourself.
Beach tones, golden sand, bronze jewel tones and sunsets over the ocean are my inspirations for the Beach Bride.
My treasured kit has everything to turn every woman into their dream bride on their wedding day. I love soft-focus powders, contour palettes, stunning lip lacquers and beautiful products for perfect skin.
If I could play one superhero it would be Catwoman but, for now, I just have to settle for a cat eye. Cat eyeliner is sexy and timeless. It can be badass, sophisticated, sensuous and ladylike all at the same time. I always use waterproof eyeliner from Inglot.
When you close your eyes to kiss your Number 1.
When the sun sets on your wedding day, the cat eye can transition your look from day to night. It’s a simple, clean line added to an otherwise natural, beachy look. Lips are soft pink nude with gloss over liner.
Thank you Misty!

Gosh, she’s gorgeous! Such a unique beauty. Beautiful make-up too, obviously.
Lovely looks, but which products is she using? I am especially interested in the eyeshadow in the first picture.

I adore the simplicity of the colors but the playfulness and excitement in the glitter. Her hair and clothes look stunning as well!
What is the model wearing? I love that first dress and would love to know who makes it. The two piece set is also very cute.
Love this makeup look! Look subtle makeup.
