One of our fave FP Me girls shares 5 of her summer night style secrets.
Going out on a west coast summer night typically results in some sort of battle between wanting to layer up “just in case” and not wanting to overheat while you’re doing it. Slight anxiety begins to creep up, thinking about what the night could feasibly bring: coffee on a rooftop, wine with close friends, a bonfire on the beach, hitting your favorite dive bar, winding up at a club – you want to be prepared for anything. And so, please take note of the following, to make your preparations about nothing more than cranking up your favorite tunes and looking – and feeling – amazing!
Get the look: Lacey Surplice Cami, Zaria Metal Belt, Destroyed Ankle Skinny
Minimize and Accessorize: Leave your leather jacket at home and swap it out for accessories! Keeping your outfit fabric-minimal is the key to comfort when going out in the midst of the balmy, tropical climate. Throwing on a bundle of necklaces will spice up your outfit plenty.
Get the look: We the Free Vienna Tunic, Neptunes Net Pendant, Matador Hat, All We Know Mule
A Good Hat: I, among many others, am a lover of all things hats. Whether it be a simple tunic or something more embellished, I literally top off my outfit for casual gatherings.
Get the look: Beaded Beauty Romper, Fleetwood Chain Skinny Scarf
Get the look: Legend Fringe Leather Jacket
The Skinny Scarf: Adding a skinny scarf to your look is adding flare! If you’re running out the door (or are a fellow victim to habitually running late), just rough up your hair, throw on a skinny scarf and you’re pretty much guaranteed to be the prettiest little mess at the party!
Get the look: Seamless Mock Neck, Vegan Fringe Mini Skirt
Balance: When wearing a tight skirt or a crop top, make sure to choose one or the other in an effort to “stay natural”. One of my new favorite trends to pair with any mini skirt are high-necked tank tops…these are breezy but still conservative enough to keep your look funky and effortless.
Keep it Casual: If you want to dress a little cooler, slipping into your favorite skinnies and pairing them with a jewelry belt is never a bad idea. You can even swap the belt for an embellished tank and pair your jeans with booties instead!
Whatever you decide to wear, just remember that feeling comfortable in your skin is what’s most important. We all know confidence is the most important accessory!
