To reunite with close friends is to experience a feeling of home…
Months may pass – or even years – yet, somehow, you picked up exactly where you left off. Past, present and future meld into one dimension.
Last weekend, I headed up north to camp with some people I hold closest to my heart. Each person totally unique, with a combination of personality traits that just can’t be duplicated. Together, a solid crew that makes for a fun time no matter what the occasion.
It’s rare we do a weekend together – and this one seemed especially unique. With crisp air turning even cooler, creating warmth was our unified — and constant — goal. Arranging for the most cozy sleeping situations…keeping the fire ablaze…offering one other an extra pair of wool socks…the conditions of the outdoors stripped down the non-necessities of daily life, and there we were. Just us. Seven friends, sharing a weekend together.
What melted my heart was hearing separate people at separate times declare how happy they were that we were doing this; that, at that very moment, there was nowhere else they’d rather be – frozen noses and all.
This season, plan something with your crew. Maybe it’s a trip to a city across the country, maybe it’s a trip to a restaurant across the street. Where you go and what you do won’t be what makes this reunion special – it’s the people that will be there, and the uniqueness each one brings to the group as a whole. When good friends come together, magic just tends to happen. All you have to do is decide where and when.

I have a good friend, probably my best, who always makes me feel at home whenever I talk to her. Sadly she has moved away a great distance, so I will be seeing her maybe once a year. Social media cannot compensate for this!

You’re so happy having good friends. I have only 1 close friend. But she is going to marry and live far from me. We will be very difficult to reunite. I’m sad.
