The Alternative Christmas Tree Post You’ve Been Waiting For

If sweeping up needles ain’t quite your thing, try this alternative Christmas tree how-to instead!

Becoming somewhat of a yearly ritual here on the blog, I’m extremely excited to share our alternative Christmas tree DIY with you all!  In true FP fashion, we gathered the twinkle lights, glitter and, of course, pom poms! — and worked up a little holiday creation that’s slightly different than your average Christmas tree. It’s a bit of a sparkle explosion, but what else would you expect? The brighter, the better in my opinion…

We enlisted the help of a visual display team member and an expert in all things crafty; with her vision, a piece of our holiday store display can now be interpreted for your home! Follow along as we walk you through the steps below…

What you need:

Branches / twigs

Baby’s breath / or any dried flower…

Spray paint

Glitter

Pom poms

Hot glue

Spray adhesive

Clear matte spray

Wire

Assorted sequins (ccartwright.com has a great selection!)

Scissors

Twinkle lights

Step One: Attach all branches together in one long line with wire.

Step Two: Spray paint them with a base color of your choice (we used gold).

Step Three: Spray adhesive gold twigs completely and add glitter.

Step Four: Once dry, nail the branches to a wall in the shape of a tree ( or other desired arrangement).

Step Five: Take the baby’s breath or other dried flower of your choice and spray paint with gold + add glitter. 

Step Six: Break apart baby’s breath and attach pieces onto the tree with wire.

Step Seven: String individual sequins onto wire and add onto branches.

Step Eight: Hot glue pom poms at the end of branches.

Step Nine: Add lights and your own ornaments. Ta da!
