4 Easy Ways To Help Your Face Overnight, Part II

Check out these two-ingredient face masks to improve your skin overnight!

Two years ago, I wrote this post. Today, I decided to revisit it, as overnight face masks are still my go-to since I never seem to find time during the day to tend to my skin. Mix some ingredients, lather it on the skin, go to sleep, and voila…you’re instantly beautiful in the morning. Sounds great, right? Right. Do your skin a little favor this winter and give it some TLC. Check out these 4 simple recipes below…

To Brighten

To wake up with skin that’s fresh, bright and glowing, try making a honey yogurt mask. The honey will naturally moisturize and the lactic acid in yogurt will help give your skin that special glow. Mix 1 tbsp raw or Manuka honey with 1 tbsp of organic yogurt. Spread a thin layer of the mixture on your face before bed, then rinse off thoroughly in the morning!

To Get Rid of Pimples

The antioxidants in green tea and the natural antibacterial properties of basil are proven to help get rid of red spots and pimples. Combine both for a blemish banishing overnight face mask! Brew a cup of green tea and combine a little bit with some basil extract. To make the basil extract, grind up some fresh basil and place in a bowl, then pour in some boiling water. Allow to steep for 10-12 minutes before straining the excess leaves. Once the green tea and basil extract have completely cooled, mix the two together, then apply to the face using a cotton ball, just as you would an astringent. Leave on overnight and wash off in the morning!

To Pull Out Impurities

Activated charcoal seems to be all the hype these days for its unique detoxing properties. To pull out excess impurities that are laying on and under the skin’s surface, combine 1 tbsp activated charcoal with 1 tbsp witch hazel. Mix together, then smooth over the face using your fingertips. Leave on overnight, but be sure to place a towel down on your pillow to avoid any stains. Rinse away thoroughly in the morning!

To Moisturize

nightface4

To moisturize and refresh the face, combine 1 tbsp of rose water with 1 tbsp of aloe vera gel. The rose water will regenerate skin cells, and the aloe gel will replace any lost moisture without making the skin look too oily. Mix together, then spread the mask onto the face. Sleep, wake up, and wash!

I love to treat my skin with a face mask occasionally, but since I usually sleep on belly it’s rather hard to imagine that an overnight mask won’t ruin your pillow! Other than that, great ideas!

Hi Jana! If I make the green tea + basil concoction can I use it then store the rest in the fridge for the days after? Will it work just the same?
