Go Ahead, Escape This Weekend

I am escaping LA this weekend in pursuit of creativity…you should, too!

I have one big intention for 2016 — to apply myself. It means a lot of different things in various areas of my life but, simply put, it means that when I have an idea, I need to pursue it. Yep, no more excuses. No more self-doubt. No more comfort zone.

This week I was chatting with a friend about escaping Los Angeles in pursuit of creative inspiration. Our hearts were calling us to travel, to write, to photograph, to be in nature, to play music. We were talking from a bleak point of view and I recall saying something along the lines of, “yeah, that would be cool, wouldn’t it?” But then I remembered my intention and my downer mind came to a screeching halt. “Whoa, whoa, whoa. We should actually do this! This weekend, let’s go!” We shared a few (hyper) glances, shook our heads yes, giggled at each other for awhile, and it was on.

…Well, kind of. In our excited state, we forgot about the logistics of choosing our destination. Shall we travel north or south? Head towards the ocean, climb the mountain, or dwell in the desert? And what about the choice of abode?…cottage, cabin, hotel or Airstream? There are lots of options out there…our heads were spinning. So in order to inspire (and assist our southern Californian friends) we went ahead and compiled a list of five Airbnb homesteads for you, all within a few hours’ driving distance to LA. Happy side note: four of the five spots are less than $150 per night. Have a look below and I’ll keep an eye out for you on the road.
