Standard Tap, a Philadelphia favorite, shares 3 cocktail recipes perfect for celebrating love!
The crowds, long waits at restaurants…sometimes the best (and even more romantic and special) option for a Valentine’s Day date might be to just stay in. Whether you’ve planned a home-cooked meal or a movie marathon, warming up the night with some spirits can be a nice addition. We teamed up with one of our favorite local spots — Standard Tap — to share 3 cocktail recipes that your sweetheart will love. Below, in-house mixologist Brendan shows us how it’s done. Enjoy!
Aperol Spritzer: A less sweet, but stronger take on the California favorite.
In a highball glass filled with ice pour:
1oz Rowhouse Spirits Gin
1oz Aperol
Top with sparkling dry rose, then garnish with a twist of lemon.
Manhattan : A classic and approachable whiskey cocktail
In a chilled coup glass pour:
2oz Dad’s Hat Bourbon
1oz Antica Carpano sweet vermouth
3 dashes of Angostora bitters
Garnish with an orange twist and house-made bourbon cherries.
Handsome Stranger : Gorgeous ginger-spiced cocktail that’s worth the effort of mixing
In a chilled coup pour:
1oz of white rum
1/2oz of Art in the Age Snap Liquor
1oz of Barretts ginger beer
1/2oz of lime juice
1/2oz of spicy simple syrup*
2 dashes of both Angostora bitters
2 dashes of Peychaud’s bitters
Garnish with a sprig of rosemary
*The spicy simple syrup recipe is a 1:1 ratio of very hot water and raw sugar, with ground chilis from our rooftop garden to taste. Chili powder is a great substitue. Allow the mixture to reduce over medium heat for 15-20 minutes. Remove from heat, allow to cool and pass through a sieve to remove any residual pepper chunks.

That last cocktail sounds very tasty, I’d like to try that (although it’s a long list of ingredients…). Guess the Aperol Spritzer is a lot easier!

That “Handsome Stranger” looks like an INCREDIBLE drink. I might make this tomorrow.
