No More Bags Under Your Eyes, Naturally: 3 Easy Ways

Remember these simple and natural tips to rid yourself of under-eye baggage.

If dog is man’s best friend, then I’m sorry to say that under-eye bags and dark circles are mine. As unfortunate as it is to admit, it’s true. They are with me, day in and day out, like two little purple reminders that I am my father’s daughter. Lack of sleep, sinus issues, dehydration, stress, nutrition and hereditary markers are some of the main causes of under-eye circles. While looking through old photo albums, I noticed that my dad’s entire side of the family is marked by these pesky under-eye bags. Huge, beaming toothy smiles, but eye bags nonetheless. Much like the natural color of your hair or the way your skin tans in the sun, so is the hereditary passings-on of the familial under-eye baggage.

But, before throwing your hands up in surrender and blaming your parents for yet another thing (why didn’t you teach me piano? You both play!), try a few simple and natural ways to help reduce the look of under-eye circles. Below are three super simple remedies that have worked for me; AND you probably have them in your house already.

eyes

Tea bags. Tea bags contain anti-inflammatory properties that provide relief from swollen eyes, and the presence of caffeine in black tea bags help shrink blood vessels and lighten the under-eye skin. Tea bags also contain antioxidants that fight free radicals, remove fine lines and dark circles.

Soak two tea bags in a cup of hot water, as if you were making a cup of tea. After steeping for a few minutes, remove tea bags and place on a plate and set in refrigerator for 10-15 minutes to cool down. Once cooled, place the tea bags on your eyelids and under eye area for 10-20 minutes. Wash eyes with cool water after.

eyes

Whole milk. The lactic acid in milk helps reduce puffiness and darkness, while also moisturizing and softening the area. Milk also contains protein, enzymes, amino acids and antioxidants that strengthen and heal the skin around the eye.

Place two cotton balls soaked in cold, organic whole milk under your eyes for ten minutes. Rinse your eyes with water after.

Raw potato slices. Potatoes contain an astringent that helps to remove the water from under your eyes. They also stay cooler longer than cucumbers, and can actually remove dark circles due to their natural bleaching abilities. Potatoes also contain Vitamin C and starch which help nourish the delicate skin around eyes.

Slice the potato and place in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes or until cool. Rest two slices on your eyes for 15-20 minutes. Rinse eyes with cool water.

Love this article! I actually needed some advice as my eyes are always puffy in the morning. I use everyday a natural gel containing echinacea and jojoba oil and it really works! I’ll definitely give tea bags a try too ;)

Hey Joanna!!
Great tips, in response to your question I really like the Nars radiant creamy concealer to conceal my underreyes . I have tried so many, and this one is my favorite. It’s also nice because you can use it on blemishes and stuff too so you don’t need a bunch of different products. I’m pretty pale but I like the shade vanilla because the hint of yellow in it helps counteract the blue/purplish under the eyes. For a cheaper drugstore alternative, try Maybelline instant age rewind concealer or Maybelline Fit me, a dupe for the Nars one. However, I think it is definitely worth it to splurge on the Nars, it looks so good when applied with a beauty u blender. Hope this helps!!

Milk is amazing! I have read that Cleopatra had bath tubs with milk in it. However, my mom had an eye bag removal surgery last month and her eyes look amazing now. Now I am 25 and I already have dark circles I can`t imagine my eyes when I am on my mother`s age. I totally will try this one with milk. Thanks for the info

Great question and I’m glad I can clarify for you. No, my undereye puffiness isn’t due to heredity which I think is a lot harder to address. The factors that make my eyes puffy are not getting enough sleep and having a cat sleep on top of my head every night.

I used to have have dark circles under my eyes which ARE hereditary and the Lady Soma Renewal Serum helps with evening them out and making them lighter. I will also say that I use it twice a day (morning and evening) and the benefits improve over time. Hope that answers your question!

After I used Dermalmd under eye treatment serum can tell a difference in under eye bags. I can tell a difference in my undereye bags. I am 69 yrs old and they have been there for a while. It’s great to find a product that actually does what it claims.

I’m only 23 but I’ve had noticeable bags under my eyes for the past 5 months now, which have made me appear fatigued. I now use the Somaluxe Triple Collagen Eye Gel and my bags almost disappeared ENTIRELY within a couple days. No other eye cream/serum has worked as well. I’m so grateful to look my age again!

Thank you for sharing so informative article. I had veeeery bad bags under eyes and constantly complained about them. Eventually, my sister booked me an appointment for a dermatologist I had micro-collagen stimulation, which was painless. I was surprised that it was so easy. Unfortunatelu , you have to repeat the procedure so it is not the best ever option but at least I don`t have to spend time for masks.
