Weekend Do: Create REAListic Goals

When it’s apparent that your goals may be a bit lofty, don’t adjust them — adjust your quest…

Congratulations — you’ve made it another year! 2017 now marks our lives, renewing our vision with a new motivation to make our dreams and goals a reality. Yet, this year, instead of setting perhaps-too-high exceptions for losing x amount of weight or getting the big promotion, sit down and take a moment to ponder the steps that will get you there first.

Start small. For example, want to lose weight? Start with  a gym membership, choose an exciting trail run, or treat yourself to a new pair of shoes. In creating little goals in pursuit of the big one, you are more likely to succeed!

Break it down. Categorize your goals. Create different achievements for work, health, money and adventure to keep you motivated no matter where life takes you!

Reward yourself. It is not always going to be easy, so don’t be too hard on yourself. Treat yourself when you can, cheer yourself on. No one is a better motivator than YOU.

Whatever your goals you’ve curated for the new year, just remember to set yourself up for success. Life has enough hiccups to not help yourself along the way!

Thank you for the simple steps to making goals. I still haven’t made mine – because I’m dreading not being able to achieve them. But these pointers will help.

These little steps are exactly what i needed to read right now! Every new year i try to completely revamp my entire life and it never ever works, this year I’m just searching for balance and positivity in all aspects of my life, i think they’ll be easier to achieve than going from eating pizza once (or twice, or three times) a week to eating vegan salads and smoothies all of a sudden! Its all about the little steps that create the whole journey!

I have two small changes that aren’t goals but, shifts. First, I am keeping my phone in the living room overnight. I found that I started scrolling social and newsfeeds first thing every morning. Second, I’m being active without pressure to perform. It’s nice to do light workouts over no workouts.
