Office Style: Meet Kristina

Basics are the foundation of her wardrobe….

Your position at Free People…

How does your job influence your personal style?

Our office is full of beautiful garments, people and ideas. Everywhere you look, things are dripping in color and texture. The creative energy is incredible and the only constant around here is change. When I started at Free People almost six years ago, I was 22 and constantly reinventing myself — the experience of working through trend cycles was dizzying (in a good way). I didn’t buy into every new idea myself but I was curious and open to figuring out what worked for me. I’m still as energized and curious about fashion but I know what works for me, what feels good and where I get excited to step out of my comfort zone a bit.

What is your personal style?

I appreciate quality basics as a foundation for my wardrobe — amazing jeans, leather boots, cozy sweaters and silk shirts. In general, I dress like a tomboy — you won’t catch me in a bodycon dress or anything fussy and frilly, but I have a very feminine side as well. An amazing vintage maxi, espadrilles and gauzy bohemian tops do the trick for me. I’m getting married this year and I’ve become such a sucker for white (which is a nice departure from my all-black wardrobe). I’ve been beholden to my skinny jeans and am super excited to break out of my shell and delve into all of the soft bottoms and new pant shapes this season.I’m all about a statement earring right now. You can wear your favorite pair of jeans and a simple top every.single.day. and no one will notice. A great earring can elevate your entire look.

Go-to fashion rule or styling trick?

I’m all about a statement earring right now. You can wear your favorite pair of jeans and a simple top every.single.day. and no one will notice. A great earring can elevate your entire look.

Favorite part about your job?

The people. My team. The kind, creative, passionate women I’m surrounded by who support and lift each other up.

Most challenging part of your job?

Time. There’s never enough of it.

What’s in your freepeople.com shopping cart?

These amazing cropped pants and this amazing pullover in 2 colors (it feels like cashmere, I swear).

One thing in your closet could you not live without?

My trusty go-to brown leather boots. They are the reason I have the family nickname “Boots”. I’ll wear them ’til they fall apart and then they’ll find a nice place on the shelf.

I love her tips and laid back style. I’m loving statement earrings at the moment as well.

Thank you for bringing back more posts about styling again. I missed them so much once everything turned to travel and health. Statement earrings are always a good idea, or a statement necklace too!

I adore the oversized sweatshirt! Green is definitely a color I am trying to add more of to my closet.
