The Art of “Hi Tea” with Neakita

The founder of herbal tea company Neakita shares with us a bit about her brand, and what to expect at our Santa Monica wellness event on 9/19!

5 words that best describe NEAKITA…

Nourishing | Ritual | Beauty | Courage | Love

Nourishing tea made with love

Spirit animal…

Wolves. They’re wild with a strong connection to instinct and intuition.

You gave up a very dreamy occupation in order to seek out your truth. Tell us about that.

In my first career, I traveled the world making wine and growing vines for some of the most renowned wineries and vineyards. It was an incredible life. I thought I had found the winning lotto ticket when it came to career paths! There was so much to be grateful for, but here’s the truth bomb: on the inside I was a total mess. I was suffering from hormone imbalance, chronic fatigue and depression. I didn’t understand why all of it was happening, but looking back now, I see that it was simply Universe sending me a message: “You’re not living your truth, darling. You need to slow down and reconnect, but since you’re not doing it I’m going to make you do it.” And as always, Universe won.

So I took a huge risk. Right when I was being offered two of my most desirable jobs, I decided to decline both to go back to school and study holistic nutrition, meditation and metaphysics. It was time for a life reboot and, my goodness, did it happen! Nourishing mind and body became my absolute priority and once I started I couldn’t get enough! Fast forward a few years later and BOOM – here I am living my truth as the proud creator of NEAKITA. I count my blessings everyday and I know none of it would have been possible without the support of my family and friends.

Your mantra…

We can only be what we give ourselves the power to be.

Best piece of advice you were ever given…

Don’t live your life to please others — live your truth instead. Even if it means you don’t fit in all the time, that’s fine, because true greatness wasn’t created by fitting in anyways.

Worst advice you were ever given…

To play it safe.

Favorite self care routine!

Beginning each day with tea and meditation.

Top 5 fave herbal teas and when to drink them…

I believe our bodies know exactly what they need to nourish themselves and it’s up to us to listen. I keep several herbal teas on hand and let my senses decide what my perfect cup of tea will be. I usually smell a few and pick the one that I feel most drawn to.

Here are the five herbal teas I recommend stocking up on:

Drink :Freedom stress-relief tea with rose petals, lavender, chamomile, peppermint and oat straw.

Because: It soothes the central nervous system to evoke a calm sensation throughout the mind and body.

When: Drink this when you are experiencing anxiety, stress or feeling overwhelmed.

Drink: Wisdom brain tea with ginkgo, gotu kola, cardamom, ginger, licorice root, lemon verbena and cinnamon.

Because: It assists with focus, clarity + memory enhancement.

When: Drink this when you need a mental boost without caffeine.

Drink: Strength immunity tea with spicy ginger, turmeric, lemongrass peppermint and black pepper.

Because: It strengthens the body’s natural immune system by revving up your digestive and metabolic fire.

When: This is the perfect tea to sip on when you feel run down or under the weather. If you feel something coming on, drink this throughout the day and it usually does the trick! It’s also a great post-meal digestive.

Drink: Purity detox tea with lemon peel, dandelion leaf, stinging nettle, lemongrass, ginger and peppermint.

Because: This tea helps bring your body back into balance so you can glow from the inside out!

When: Drink this when you are experiencing cravings, bloat or a breakout.

Drink: Grace woman’s moon tea with kava kava, cramp bark, sarsaparilla, sassafras and licorice root.

Because: Cramp bark and kava kava is an age-old Native American remedy that works well to soothe cramps and menstrual malaise.

When: Drink this tea in place of an advil or midol for PMS cramps. It’s also a beautiful tea to unwind with before bed.

What does free mean to you?

To me, free means believing and living as though anything is possible.
