3 Things to Do Today: Introduction to Autumn

Because Sundays are for rejuvenation…

To break the monotony of my usual Sunday cycle, I started off by telling myself this: You are a beautiful, hard-working, selfless being, and you deserve this time. Treat yourself.

So I did. Three things, every Sunday, for myself. I’m sharing them to give y’all some ideas, and hopefully inspire you to take a day off — completely — and cater to your needs. Follow along with this series if you feel like your “you” time is missing.

Fall Festival.

Just about every weekend in October is filled with some sort of fall festival, and I’m over the moon about it. Today’s the day, my friends. Find a listing for all of the fall festivals in your town, and I bet you’ll find one that suits. The local pumpkin patch, apple farm, or market will most likely have something going on. Find a friend, bundle up, and go sip some cider… pick a pumpkin, and celebrate the fall season.

Crock Pot.

Those fresh veggies from this fall’s harvest are waiting to be pulled, sliced, and potted into a big beautiful bowl of soup. I love throwing any vegetable I can find into a crock pot and allowing it a few good hours to convert into a beautiful broth. Making bulk batches of veggie soup to freeze for the winter is my jam. This is the perfect season to gather those goodies and get going on bulk cooking. Sip on some tonight for dinner, and save the rest for cooler nights ahead.

Bonfire.

It’s bonfire season, y’all. Gather those thick quilts, some folky tunes, and all of your best friends. Sit around the fire tonight, under the stars, and let the crackling wood flake into the autumn moon.

I’m challenging you to clear your schedule today and do 3 things for yourself. You work your butt off, and deserve some “me” time. If you try this out, let me know how it went, and if you feel rested and rejuvenated, let’s keep this up.

I’m so happy about the festivities in fall too! We don’t have pumpkin patches here in Hong Kong, but there are plenty of outdoor food fests and music shows!

Yass!! I’ve been enjoying the autumn foliage as I vacation in upstate New York (where I grew up). Yesterday I went to an amazing farmer’s market to pick up local produce and sip on apple cider. It’s awesome to wear my boots, flannel shirts and sweaters for I change, since it’s still in the 90’s back home in Phoenix.
