6×6: London

Normally our travel-inspired 5×5, the girls from London town have upped the ante to a big 6×6 this week… there’s that much good stuff to see and do!

Known for its history, culture, flower-filled streets, and pubs on every corner, London truly has something for everyone. Over 8 million people call this iconic city home, and along King’s Road sits Free People’s sole UK boutique. Eager to get the scoop on the best London hangouts, we reached out to six FP store employees to share the spots locals love. Read on to get a peek into the place these babes call home…

Ladurée – 1 The Market, London WC2E 8RA

A stroll around London’s touristy Covent Garden wouldn’t be complete without a stop at the renowned French patisserie Ladurée to satisfy my sweet-tooth cravings. Ask for their seasonal macaron flavours, but also try the rose petal, pistachio and vanilla – they taste even more amazing with the Marie Antoinette tea.

Portobello Garden Caffe – 269B Portobello Road, London W11 1LR

When the market gets to be too much, this is one of my favourite traditional Italian restaurants to pop into! Hidden away in The Arcade on Portobello Road, it feels like a little Italian street miles away from London. You must try the tiramisu!

New Covent Garden Flower Market – London, SW8 5BH

This hidden dreamland sits amidst industrial Vauxhall. As a wholesaler for florists across London, you can find the most beautiful, interesting flowers and plants at a great price without the crowds of Colombia Road. Keeping with tradition, they open at the crack of dawn and are emptied out by 11:30, so make sure to get there early!

Saatchi Gallery – Duke of York’s HQ, King’s Rd, Chelsea, London SW3 4RY, UK

My favourite thing about London has to be the galleries, so calming and invigorating. Of course, King Road itself has the hub – the Saatchi Gallery. As soon as I see a new exhibition advertised, there is no doubt that is where I will be unwinding after a day at work. This one is a must-see!

Tanya’s Cafe – 35 Ixworth Pl, Chelsea, London SW3 3QX, UK

Have you ever had a turmeric latte? Not only are they all the rage, but they are seriously yummy, too. My favourite place to stop for one is Tanya’s Cafe (I get it with coconut milk and sometimes even treat myself to a piece of cake too…). Did I mention it’s yellow?

The 10 Cases – 16 Ended Street, WC2H 9BD, London

My favorite place to go after work for a glass of wine is The 10 Cases in Covent Garden. I love to go with friends – it’s so warm and cosy, and the food and wine complement each other!

There you have it, six essential London spots from famous galleries to flower markets. Have London secrets to add? Let us know in the comments below! In the meantime, if you’re local or planning a trip across the pond be sure to stop by our UK Pop-Up shop on King’s Road and say hello to the locals above!
