Today Is Random Acts of Kindness Day – Shall We?

People will never forget how you made them feel. That, to me, is what doing a random act of kindness is all about.

I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” — Maya Angelou

Happy National Random Acts Of Kindness Day, y’all. Maya Angelou’s quote is one that I hold near and dear to my heart. I try and practice its meaning on a daily basis, but thought today it made a lot of sense to share with all of you. People will never forget how you made them feel. That, to me, is what doing a random act of kindness is all about.

I’ve compiled 3 quick things that you can practice today, with hopes that they inspire you to work random acts of kindness into your daily life a bit more.

Leave A Book.

Books have healing powers, I swear. One of my favorite things to do when I read a really wonderful book is to pass it on to a stranger. Dig through your bookshelf this morning and snag a book that had a special impact on your life. Scribble a sweet note in the front and leave it on the bus seat, on the subway, or even a bench in the park. It may mean the world to the next person that finds the treasure and gets to read it.

Help The Elderly.

Put your shyness aside for a bit and go for it. My next door neighbor is 84 years old and has a golden retriever that she adores. I absolutely love taking her dog for a walk for her and she feels so much happiness that he is out getting some good exercise.

Line Cut.

Let someone cut you today. Whether its a mom with three kids, or someone your age. Try letting someone skip the line – at a restaurant, grocery store, or coffee shop. It may inspire them to give it a try one day, and could help them out if they are struggling with time or a busy family!

I love the idea of leaving a book! It’s something that has become very common where I live, and I always make sure to donate my old ones because I get through SO many of those (I’m a big reader, heh)! ❤️

I practiced the line cut option yesterday.. it feels awkward at first but was so rewarding for the mom with kids and also me. Great ideas!
