Your 3 Things to Do Today While Summer is Still Hot

To break the monotony of my typical Sunday, I started off by telling myself this: You are a beautiful, hard-working, selfless being, and you deserve this time. Treat yourself.

Three things, every Sunday, for myself. I’m sharing them to give y’all some ideas, and hopefully inspire you to take a day off — completely — and cater to your needs. Follow along with this series if you feel like your “you” time is missing.

Spend One Hour In Nature.

I don’t know about you but, this year, it feels like Summer has slipped by so quickly. I truly believe in the importance of taking advantage of a sunny day. Our weekly routine can keep us indoors, so make sure to take time for yourself outside. Begin this morning in nature. Whether it is tending to the garden, walking the streets of your city, or even just reading in the hammock. Soak in that morning sunshine and take in some deep breaths, allowing your body to soak in a few last meaningful days of Summer.

Try Something New.

Today is the day to check off that one thing on your bucket list that you haven’t given yourself the time to do. For me, it is trying out kayaking. I absolutely love being in the water but have never kayaked. It was on the top of my summer list this year, and sadly I’ve been putting it off. Try something today that you’ve been meaning to. It is always so rewarding to put yourself out there and check adventures off your “to do” list.

Make A Spritzer.

I love whipping up fresh spritzers with seasonal ingredients. During Summer, I find myself eating bags and bags of tart cherries weekly before I have to wait another year. I recently came up with a Cherry Thyme spritzer that is super refreshing. Finish and celebrate today with this refreshing mocktail. It will satisfy your taste buds without the Monday hangover.

Here’s the recipe:

Ingredients

1 cup fresh organic cherries

Local honey

4 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice

3 cups wild cherry sparkling water

Sprigs of thyme

Method

Wash cherries and remove pits. Set them in a bowl and begin smashing them with a wooden spoon (be warned — it may stain the spoon)! Add a drizzle of honey to taste. Squeeze fresh lemon juice on top and stir.

Pour mixture into 4 cups (for friends), or a giant mason jar if you are riding solo and would like to sip later. Add ice and top with some sparkling water. A sprig of thyme enhances the flavor and adds some divine earthiness!

What are some fun things you have been doing on your days off this Summer? Let me know in the comments!

I’m lucky because it’ll still be hot here in Hong Kong until like, October! Still plenty of time to check these things off my list. ❤️
