Office Style: Meet Mia

Any woman who votes Marlene Dietrich as her style icon is a friend of ours…read on to learn more about Mia.

Your position at Free People…

Web Producer.

Describe your personal style…

I’m a bit of a chameleon — usually I prefer casual and comfortable, but also enjoy going full glam for the right occasion. Most consistently gravitate towards earth-toned, simple pieces with a hint of 90s grunge mixed in somewhere.

What makes you feel confident?

Lots of sleep and a productive morning, complete with a workout and ample time to read and sip coffee before heading to the office.

Who is your style icon?

Marlene Dietrich. She redefined women’s fashion and lived for herself while challenging the notions of femininity at the time. She also performed for my grandfather’s troops in France during WW2 in an effort to lift soldiers’ spirits. That is undoubtedly the coolest thing in my family’s history.

“I dress for the image. Not for myself, not for the public, not for fashion, not for men.”

Favorite part of your job?

Learning everything that goes into web production and site optimization has been fascinating. There are so many moving pieces and it’s fun being behind the scenes. The Web Prod team also laughs more than any other team in this office, hands-down!

What are your beauty + wellness must-haves?

Lots of water infused with lemon and cucumber — it’s an addiction at this point. Also taking time for my nightly skincare routine. Oh, and castor oil on my hair, eyebrows and lashes for volume!

What do you do outside of Free People?

Cooking is one of my all-time favorites. I could roam the Reading Terminal Market for fresh ingredients and inspiration all day. I also love running outside to explore new parts of the city.

If you had to wear one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

High-waisted anything and Converse.

Your favorite (upcoming) trend…

I’m very into scrunchies right now. They give the illusion of thicker hair and bring back childhood memories. 😊

Best concert you’ve attended OR dream concert you’d love to attend:

Fleetwood Mac, just before Rumors dropped in 1977. The drama.

Most embarrassing outfit you’ve ever worn.

I was obsessed with sparkly Limited Too tops for way too long.

One piece of advice you’d give your younger self.

FOMO is stupid, books are better than people, and stop plucking your eyebrows.

What’s the first thing you’d do if you won the lottery today?

Buy a lake house with lots of land for gardening my own produce and adopt absurd amounts of dogs.

What’s in your freepeople.com shopping cart?

Summit Color Block Pom Beanie

Sunday Riley Multivitamins Kit

Crashing Waves Pullover

Weekender Puffer Jacket

Normani Bias Skirt

Tailored Cropped Kick Skinny Pants

Eleven Sweater

I like Mia’s boots – though I wouldn’t be able to walk in them if I wore them myself, haha. And I love scrunchies too, they’re such a cute trend right now!
