End 2018 With Some Serious “WE” Time

Sure, you could schedule a date night or road trip to recalibrate, but if you’re more interested in staying in and staying warm, might we suggest incorporating a few couple-friend self-care items into whatever you’re planning?

If all the holiday movies are to be believed, this time of year is about getting together with family and the ones you love the most. And while this sentiment is all well and good, it can also be a little, well, overwhelming, for lack of a better word.

Between gift buying and holiday parties and travel logistics and unpredictable weather, the end-of-year holiday season can sometimes be the very opposite of the relaxing week or two you were hoping for (and so desperately needed).

What’s more, when you’re pulled in a million different holiday-themed directions, it’s all too easy to move your partner to the bottom of the priority list, assuming you’ll share some quality time when the craziness winds down in January. While that may be true — and really, is there a better time of year to hibernate together under a cozy blanket than the oft-miserable first month of the year? — you may want to carve out some “we time” as December winds down. Not only will it help you two reconnect if you’ve lost touch a bit in the last few weeks, but it’ll help set the tone for your 2019 coupledom and remind you both why you love being together.

Sure, you could schedule a date night or road trip to recalibrate, but if you’re more interested in staying in and staying warm, might we suggest incorporating a few couple-friend self-care items into whatever you’re planning? After all, nothing says “we time” like bubble bath for two…

Once you’ve filled the tub, light a few candles to set the mood (might we suggest Retablos’ “The Noche” Candle? The matte black jar is ultra-sexy and the scents of sandalwood, lavender, leather and pine will transport you to a sultry summer night after a rainstorm, promise), apply face masks (the couple who masks together stays together!), add some love-inducing salts to the water and settle in for relaxing, tandem quality time.

Not into baths? (I understand — something about sitting in a vat of rapidly-cooling, sort-of dirty water may not scream “ROMANCE!”) Showers can be just as intimate, if not more so, especially when you add handmade shower cubes to the mix. Harper & Ari’s Sugar Cubes create a sweet-smelling experience in your shower thanks to their fruit and flower essences which calm and restore. Take some deep breaths, then get to lathering — and cleaning — each other up!

When you’re “clean” (subjectivity is key here), make sure to keep your skin moisturized (bonus points for helping each other reach those hard-t0-get-spots) with Lelo’s Personal Moisturizer. Formulated for your most intimate moments, this rich, aloe-vera-infused lubricant can be used to enhance ANY pleasure.

Then wrap yourselves in cozy robes and whip up a delicious drink to sip while you two lovebirds gaze into each other’s eyes. Or sit next to each other while watching a movie. Or play a rousing game of Scrabble. Or break out some biodegradable toys to enjoy together. Whatever you do, do it with the person you love and end the year with some much-needed “we time.”
