Office Style: Meet Chanel

“Never feel apologetic for simply being yourself! “

Your position at Free People…

Describe your personal style…

I feel like it’s all over the place depending on how I am feeling that day. I am EXTREMELY obsessed with men’s fashion (they totally have it better than women’s clothing), so more than likely, I am in something more boyish than anything else. I also like to play with different patterns and mix styles, so I’d say at times my fashion sense can definitely be risky or edgy. I am not really a fan of looking like the “norm,” so I’ll try going for items that either clash or that a regular person wouldn’t style together. On the flip side, there are also times I feel a little girlier and throw a on dress… but those chances are slim to none, and 9/10 it’s paired with sneakers to give a more dress-down/rugged look.

What makes you feel confident?

Knowing I put effort into my appearance before walking out of the door. AND… A great workout! I am completely obsessed with staying fit, and healthy(iish) lol. 10/10, I feel like the greatest person on earth after a productive workout 😊

Who is your style icon?

I like to take different styles and mix them to see what I end up with. More often than not, I’ll admire the fashion sense of a complete stranger than someone I follow on social media. I could be out and come across two strangers with unrelatable styles, and somehow find a way to mesh what appealed to me (from both of them) into one style of my own. Aleali May gets an honorable mention simply because I resonate with her fashion sense the most; there’s literally not one picture I’ve seen of her where I haven’t said to myself “she is me. I am her.” lol.

Wearing: Long Faux Fur Mac CoatOversized Western Denim Shirt and Blossom Rigid Skinny Jeans.

Favorite part of your job?

I loveeee being around clothes, and people with different styles. I enjoy walking through the building and seeing either current or future trends. There’s also a sense of comfort, in terms of style, that everyone has here and I’ve never quite experienced that before. Everyone dresses how THEY feel that day which is 100% amazing, and it’s something that is very unique to the community we have at Free People/URBN.

In terms of my actual position, it’s pretty cool to be a part of a process that literally starts from a concept(s), progresses into a full assortment and longer down the line, into a full presentation in store. It’s amazing to work with cross functional teams on all aspects of an assortment, and in the end be able to physically see/feel what we’ve accomplished.

What are your beauty + wellness must-haves?

Cetaphil face wash! It works miracles, and it’s the ONLY wash I use. I have sensitive skin, so 90% of chemical scrubs, washes, lotions don’t work for me (I have horror stories about my breakouts). My dermatologist suggested this, and its been my number 1 ever since. 😊

Wearing: Larsen Western Boot.

What do you do outside of Free People?

I am an extreme homebody; so if I am not there, I am either traveling or working out/taking a dance class. I’m also adventurous, so any fun activity I come across, means harassing my friends to do it with it me.

If you had to wear one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

A gold necklace that I already wear every single day.

Your favorite (upcoming) trend…

A big fan of clashing patterns..

Best concert you’ve attended OR dream concert you’d love to attend:

Coachella, hands down! The besttttt experience, not even for the music, but the ambiance is completely insane…..and the FASHION ugh ❤ I spent months preparing my outfits for it lol.

Most embarrassing outfit you’ve ever worn.
From age 2 through 8th grade, my mom insisted on dressing my sister and I as twins and I HATEDDDDDDDDDD it lol. I cant even think of just one outfit — literally all of them were so embarrassing; not even because they didn’t appeal to me, but because I was forced to be a twin (honestly think I just had the older sibling syndrome). I wanted to be my own person growing up, but my mom (with my younger sister’s encouragement) just loved seeing her girls look the same. They definitely double-teamed me into wearing those clothes for years lol.

One piece of advice you’d give your younger self.

Never feel apologetic for simply being yourself! That is the purest version of YOU that YOU should ever be ❤

What’s the first thing you’d do if you won the lottery today?

Secure the future of my younger siblings.
