Superfood Tonic or Skin Treatment? Why Not Both?

The Chalkboard Mag and CAP Beauty team up to share a recipe that is ALL about reviving your glow…

This post is part of an ongoing collaboration with The Chalkboard Mag.

We trust CAP Beauty for all things green and gorgeous. When they shared this DIY face mask recipe with us we were drooling over all the potent plant-based ingredients — most of which we already have on hand (or in pantry, we should say).

Our love for a good mask runs deep. We love to get in the kitchen and formulate our own, using staples from our superfood pantry, confirming our belief that the best skincare mimics a healthy diet, with nutrients at the forefront and only pure and life-giving ingredients. Channel your inner chef, and your skin will thank you.

This mask contains high levels of antioxidants and vitamins D and E, is anti-inflammatory, purifying, calming and has gently exfoliating properties. It’s perfect for the season, as it helps to shed winter layers while nourishing and feeding your skin. Of course, it’s clean enough to eat. (And, most likely, delicious!)

DIY FACE MASK

Ingredients:

1/2 tsp matcha
1/2 tbsp tocotrienols
1 tbsp Manuka honey
1 tsp chlorella

Method:

Whisk or stir 1/2 teaspoon matcha into 1 tablespoon water and set aside. Add to a small ceramic bowl 1/2 tablespoon tocotrienols, 1 tablespoon honey and 1 teaspoon chlorella and mix well with the brush. Slowly and deliberately pour the brewed matcha, as needed, until it reaches a paste-like consistency. Be careful not to create too thin a consistency. If needed, add more tocotrienols and honey.

Apply to your clean face with the brush. Allow to sit for 20 minutes. We like to take a bath or meditate while we’re masking. It may be drippy, so lying down is smart. Enjoy a timeout.

Remove with warm or cool water, scrubbing gently to promote a light exfoliation. Your skin will feel dewy, cleansed and revived.

I’ve never tried matcha as a facemask before! So interesting!

I once did a face mask that was only matcha and water – it felt tingly while it was on – and it made my face crazy red! It looked like the worst sunburn ever and permanently changed my skin tone. So be careful everyone!

Nice post! I personally think skin treatments are very effective and work faster than home remedies. Home remedies take much time to show its effectiveness. So, who wants the best and fast results should go for the skin laser treatments.

Great DIY for a face mask, love this

I’m overjoyed to learn that my favorite foods are so good for the skin. I had no clue watermelon and blueberries, which I enjoy occasionally, were so excellent for the skin. I’ve been removing avocados and olive oil from my diet in an effort to lose weight, but I’ll definitely be adding them back in. I consume a lot of salmon—probably too much. I might start eating flaxseed going forward and reduce my intake of fish oils.
