Tel Aviv, in short, is an amazing city. It didn’t hurt that, during the set-up of our Tel Aviv store, the weather was perfect and, in our downtime, afforded us the chance to visit the nearby beaches to soak up sun and enjoy the company of many dogs.
Don’t get us started on the food. It was sooooo good.
One of our favorite restaurants, Romano, is an incredibly cool place. Located in the historic textile district, Romano lies unsuspecting behind large industrial doors. Their menu boasts seasonal, fresh and local vegetables, fish and seafood that changes every day. It was super cute. We loved the dishes and the ambience so much that some of us frequented it several times during our stay. Its sister restaurant, Port Said, is also not to be missed.
On a rare free afternoon, we took the opportunity to visit the much-talked-about Jaffa Flea Market. Jaffa is the ancient port from which Tel Aviv has flourished, and there were SO MANY treasures to be found — records to guitars to furniture. And more great food. Stalls were packed with everything from vintage Levis to kimonos and leather goods.
In Jaffa, directly across from the market, lies the very quaint and cute Market House Hotel. Breakfast here was an absolute pleasure! So many fresh and delicious options. We also recommend this very darling Italian restaurant, Italkiya. Casual outdoor seating in a gorgeous environment.
Although we had only one day to spend in Jerusalem, the Machane Yehuda Market made the visit worthwhile. Dating back to the 19th century, this market encapsulates the best of all that Israel has to offer, like spices, incense, food, and great people-watching.
The best tip I learned before even arriving in Tel Aviv? An app called Gett, which works similarly to Uber and Lyft, and will get you to Free People in no time.
