Feel Good with Sophia Roe, And Make A Great Strawberry Hempseed Mylk with CAP Beauty

Sophia Roe is back with an incredibly delicious and simple hemp mylk recipe, featuring the founders of CAP Beauty and their Berry Coconut Butter…

Sophia Roe is a chef, wellness advocate, and food & feelings enthusiast, whose work centers around making the language of wellness more diverse, more inclusive, and more accepting. Enter “Feel Good.”

Today, Sophia talks with Kerrilynn and Cindy, the power duo behind CAP Beauty, a New York-based company created “to spread the power of naturals to as many people as possible.” In 2015, the two opened their first store and spa in the city’s West Village and, today, it — as well as a second location in Los Angeles — has become a mecca for people looking to attain their “highest state of health.”

CAP is no stranger to Sophia, as it ranks on her list of favorite NYC destinations. Says Sophia, “As I began working on this recipe, I knew I wanted to use one of CAP’s coconut butters (which also happens to be their best-selling product!), ideally their berry flavor because you almost never find berry mylks in stores!” Though Sophia chose to use strawberries in this recipe, feel free to use whatever berry you like best. Sophia’s tips: drink this straight, use it with overnight oats or chia pudding. It also makes for an absolutely delicious smoothie or acai bowl base. Watch the video after the recipe!

Strawberry Hemp Seed Mylk

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cup hemp seeds

4 1/2 cups filtered water

1 tbsp maple syrup (raw, or 2 medjool dates)

1 cup frozen strawberries

3 tbsp CAP Beauty berry coconut butter

1 vanilla bean or 1 tsp vanilla powder

1/2 tsp sea salt

Optional:

1/2 tsp lemon zest

Tools needed:

Blender

Nut milk bag or fine mesh strainer

Method:

Place all ingredients in blender, and blend until smooth (approximately 30-45 seconds). Strain entire mixture with fine mesh strainer, or nut milk bag. (You can throw away the pulp, or keep and add to smoothies for extra fiber!) Be sure to store your Strawberry Hemp Mylk in the refrigerator, which will keep it for up to five days.

Sophia finds purpose in being a resource for her audience and educating them on how to cope with stress and live a healthy and meaningful life. She leads transformative workshops and retreats illustrating the power of a safe, open forum for storytelling, community, food, and healing. Sophia resides in Brooklyn, NY and is currently penning her first book, which is slated to launch in 2020.

CAP is one of my favorite places to stop by during the week when the village is less crowded! Can’t wait to try this and legit thrilled to have a video–is this the first time adding a video to a recipe post?
