Office Style: Meet More of our Summer Interns

These three beauties hail from our very own Keystone state, but each one brings her own personality to the FP team! Read on to learn more about them.

This is Leah, our Photo Studio Production Intern!

Wearing: the Wrangler Heritage Cropped Jeans the Basique Bodysuit, and the Ace Tooled Crossbody

What did you do before starting your internship at FP?
Pre-FP I was at school in NYC and interning for the fabulous brand, Fleur du Mal.

Where is your hometown and what is your favorite thing about it?
I’m from West Chester, PA which is just outside of Philly. I love working in the city and coming home to a little bit of countryside.

Favorite thing/place/activity in Philly so far?
My favorite thing to do in Philly is explore new restaurants and try tons of new food! Zahav, El Vez, and The Love. are some of my faves!

Best part of interning at FP?
Working with amazing people and being able to explore and experience so many different parts of the company.

What advice would you give to a potential intern?
Do all the activities you can and make the most of every day.

Meet Katie, our Planning & Allocation Intern for Movement!

What did you do before starting your internship at FP?
Business student at The George Washington University in Washington D.C. Fun fact: I was actually a teaching assistant last semester for a professional development course and I am on the varsity lacrosse team!

Where is your hometown and what is your favorite thing about it?
I am from a suburb about 30 minutes outside the city — in Villanova, PA. My favorite part is driving around familiar roads with friends blasting music. I’m not usually in the car since I go to a city school, so it’s a special treat. We are usually headed to Capri, our local water ice shop.

Favorite thing/place/activity in Philly so far?
I grew up around here, but that feeling on Eagles Game Day cannot be beat. My uncle has had the same tailgate at FDR Park for almost 30 years — my family and I are insane fans.

Best part of interning at FP?
The opportunities here are endless. I have met such interesting people with a wide range of backgrounds. Being a business-y person and getting to see a concept and trend talk was so exciting! I also was fortunate enough to go to the Distribution Center in Gap, PA, which was the biggest building I’ve ever seen.

What advice would you give to a potential intern?
Do not be afraid to ask questions and make mistakes. I’ve learned a lot by coming here and I am so thankful my managers have empowered me to do so. Also, meet as many people as you possibly can, especially the interns because the 10 weeks fly!

And last but not least, our Finance Intern, Yasmeen!

What did you do before starting your internship at FP?
Normally I would be at Penn State University Park during the school year, but this past semester, I studied abroad in Barcelona, Spain! It was an amazing experience traveling around Spain and Europe.

Where is your hometown and what is your favorite thing about it?
I am from Yardley, PA, which is about 45 minutes outside of the city. My favorite thing about being home is hanging out with my friends and family. I also love playing tennis at the courts right by my house.

Favorite thing/place/activity in Philly so far?
The music scene in Philly has always been amazing. I love going to concerts and festivals around the city. Some of my favorite venues are Festival Pier, the TLA, Union Transfer, and the Mann Center.

Best part of interning at FP?
There are so many things I love about interning at Free People — it is hard to choose! I love the people I work with and all the interns I have met, the creative environment (which is hard to find for a finance position!), and of course, the dogs. Also the Jharoka special is dangerous, but definitely a plus.

What advice would you give to a potential intern?
Take full advantage of everything offered to you. There are so many opportunities to learn and try new things – I try to sign up for every intern event, coffee chat, and tour that is offered!
