Office Style: Meet Christina

In the market for some inspiration? Our Wovens planner will undoubtedly satiate that need, and then some…

Your position at Free People…
I am the planner of our amazing wovens assortment!

Describe your personal style…
I would definitely say classic with a touch of cool or boho. My go-to look is a classic top with destroyed denim and a cool or funky sandal or boot! I am originally from New Orleans, so I am a city girl who spent a lot of time at music festivals.

What makes you feel confident?
An outfit that fits my body well, plus a good hair day, glowing skin, and manicured nails. Nothing can ruin my mood on a day like that!

I also feel confident when I have a plan. I love being PREPARED! I get a little stressed without a preparation but I am working on it since my husband is Mr. Spontaneity.

Who is your style icon?
I have a couple but the ladies who never let me down are Tracee Ellis Ross and Blake Lively. I want their entire closets! Oh, and Zendaya is also a breath of fresh air!

Favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is my team. Everyone is super smart, really helpful, and ultra-collaborative. We spend hours upon hours together, so having a great team dynamic is essential to producing great work.

What are your beauty + wellness must-haves?
I keep it pretty simple. It all starts with moisturized skin! So, I use Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion on my face every morning. Then, I apply Cetaphil Lotion to my entire body daily.

I live by Tarte Bronzer during the day! I add a Mented lipstick for the evening. I just do a Burt’s Bees cream at nighttime.

I try to drink 100 oz of water daily. And I take a daily multivitamin every morning because my child loves to spread her germs.

Wearing: the June Bralette, the Baroque Maxi, and Converse Sneakers

What do you do outside of Free People?
Since I have a 2-year-old daughter named Croix, we are always looking for kid-friendly spots with adult benefits. Wineries are surprisingly great for parents and kids. We travel whenever we can but when in the city, you can find us strolling around Manayunk, at a local museum, or at our pool.

In terms of “me time,” I love to work out at 5:30 in the morning before there are any distractions! Boxing is my workout of choice, but I also love Pilates and free weights. I am a member of the Junior League, so I do a lot of volunteering. My favorite pastime is reading but my toddler is demanding (in a loving way), so podcasts and audiobooks are my new BFFs. I have to flip through magazines quickly before Croix swipes them for herself!

If you had to wear one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
DENIM! Hands down. I love indigo, black, and white. High-waisted, loose fit, and skinny. Pants, shirts, and jackets. I need to thank whoever created this wonderful fabrication (aka Levi’s)!

Favorite place you’ve ever visited and why:
My favorite place at this point is Greece. I love a destination that offers rich history but also beautiful beach time. Athens was epic and all of the islands were so gorgeous. Don’t even get me started on the Mediterranean food! Also, we ate the best gelato EVER from a bakery on the side of the road (and I’ve been to Italy!).

What song would describe you best?
I don’t have a song to describe me but my favorite song is “Ex-Factor” by Lauryn Hill. I love the musicality but also the raw emotion in her voice throughout the entire song. The song stops me in my tracks whenever it comes on.

Most embarrassing outfit you’ve ever worn.
I definitely regret the days of Victoria’s Secret sweatpants with “PINK” written across the bum! I also regret these metallic peach-colored American Apparel leggings since at least 3 people stopped me in my tracks to confirm that I was indeed wearing pants that day. Fail!

One piece of advice you’d give your younger self.
“Everybody dies, but not everybody lives.” With that in mind, don’t ever allow anyone or anything to steal your joy or your peace. It’s just not worth it.

What’s the first thing you’d do if you won the lottery today?
I would set up a scholarship for underserved girls pursuing degrees in the S.T.E.M. fields. My first degree was in engineering and I saw an obvious gender/ethnicity gap in that field, so I would love to support talented girls with limited resources. At the end of the day, it is really all about giving back.
