Our Senior Buyer of Movement recounts her life’s adventures, which began in Australia and meandered through many places before landing at Free People…
What did you want to be growing up?
A ballerina or a mermaid (when I was little)… but by the time I got to college, I knew my passion was for the fashion industry. I couldn’t draw so design was a no-go. I kind of fell into Buying from my first job in retail.
Your first job – what/ where?
I was an Avon lady at the age of 13 — always wanted to earn my own $ so I sold beauty products door to door. My first real job was working in car insurance (not for me).
Toughest obstacle you’ve overcome:
Leaving friends and family behind at the age of 25 for this life of adventure.
Your current position at Free People….
Senior Buyer for FP Movement.
What drew you to Free People?
It’s FREE PEOPLE!! I’ve always wanted to work for the brand, so combining that with teaching yoga and my active lifestyle seemed to be the perfect mix.
Proudest work moment:
Standing up at an All-Company Meeting and talking about our product and sales. Saying the achievements out loud made it even more real.
What advice would you give someone who’d like to be in your role one day?
You have to live and breathe it. Be invested and ready for the roller coaster ride.
Favorite part of working at Free People:
Being part of something so unique. Oh, and bringing my 🐻🐻 to the office, of course!
