Words to live by, by Cheyenne: “Don’t settle for less, but also be prepared to grind.”
Your current position at Free People….
Merchandise Planning in Accessories.
What did you want to be growing up?
I’ve always wanted to work in fashion or home décor. My second cousin was a buyer for Target. She was a role model for me, so nearing college I began to look into merchandising programs.
Your first job – what/ where?
McDonalds at 13! I was only allowed to work 3-hour shifts at a time, cleaning the lobby. But it afforded me money to shop!
Toughest obstacle you’ve overcome:
Honestly, just getting over the learning curve of the first year on the job.
How did you land at FP?
I always wanted to work here! I relocated a couple years ago from Wisconsin for this job.
What drew you to it?
The boho aesthetic along with the special care and detail that goes into each unique item.
Proudest work moment:
Breaking the web’s Holiday unit sales record with an style in one of my classes!
What advice would you give someone who’d like to be in your role one day?
Don’t settle for less, but also be prepared to grind. From my days working at a store drowning in clothes from the fitting room, to my first role at home office drowning in data, I’ve learned something each step of the way.
Favorite part of working at Free People:
The people, the dogs and the fashion! I love all of the super smart and stylish girls on my team. We all have a lot in common, including our passion for FP. My favorite part of the day is when we all take our dogs out to run over lunch.
Your anthem / theme song?
It’s constantly changing! Currently “Monte Carlo” by Taro y Moi.
What’s currently in your FP.com shopping cart?
Velvet Burnout Scarf Pony
Sea Ya There Mini Dress
Switch It Up cuff Top
Ribbed V-Neck Brami (There’s no such thing as too many)
Hearts Run Wild Maxi Dress
