Office Style: Meet Natalie

“Seeing my designs online and in the stores for the first time was SERIOUSLY the coolest thing ever.”

What did you want to be growing up?

Growing up I LOVED (and always will love) animals. I wanted to be a veterinarian so I could be around them all day. But fashion and design also had my heart. So being in an office where I get to be creative, work in fashion and be surrounded by pups all day is kind of a win-win !

Your first job – what/ where?

I worked at a gym with a few of my friends.

Toughest obstacle you’ve overcome:

Leaving the West Coast was probably the toughest obstacle for me. I have always been drawn to the beaches, sunshine and lifestyle. Moving there after college and getting my first job in the surf/swim industry was a huge stepping stone for me. I made so many memories and friends, so it was hard to leave. But I am grateful to be back on the East Coast with my friends and family, and I go back to visit often !

Your current position at Free People….

I am a Graphic Designer for Apparel and Branding. 😊

How did you land at FP?

I am originally from Philly, so working for FP has always been a dream. I was living in California, and opportunity knocked in the form of a phone call about whether I’d consider moving back to my roots for a dream job. HOW could I say no?!

Wearing: the Rolling Stones 89 Maxi Top, the High-Rise Bike Shorts, the Sierra Boater Hat , and the Dr. Martens Jadon Lace-Up Boot

What drew you to it?

I have been a FP customer since I can remember. I love the vibrancy, uniqueness and spirit of the brand.

Proudest work moment:

Seeing my designs online and in the stores for the first time was SERIOUSLY the coolest thing ever.

What advice would you give someone who’d like to be in your role one day?

Always make time to be creative. I really value the days in which I can sit down with a paintbrush, sketchbook, scissors, fabric, glue, etc. and go crazy!

Favorite part of working at Free People:

The people and the atmosphere. I am surrounded by so much creativity and talent — it is really inspiring as a designer.

Your anthem / theme song?

“Another One Bites the Dust” by Queen.
Because Queen is LEGENDARY and when it comes on you can’t NOT sing along and want to dance.
