“Ask questions! You learn so much every day, so do not be afraid to ask for help.”
What did you want to be growing up?
I wanted to be a buyer for intimates and/or swimwear…(*pats self on back*)
Your first job – what/ where?
My first job was in retail at a store called Altar’d State, as a sales associate/visual merchandiser.
Toughest obstacle you’ve overcome:
Taking the risk of moving across the country, from LA to Philadelphia, to pursue this career. I hadn’t ever spent any time in Philly, and did not know a single person out here. This was also my first real job in a corporate office, so to say I had no idea what to expect is an understatement..
Your current position at Free People….
I am the Assistant Buyer for Intimates — lounge, bras, and undies.
How did you land at FP?
Growing up I always knew I wanted to work for Free People, and a store was opening up in my hometown, so I got a job as a stylist in stores.
What drew you to it?
I mean…what didn’t draw me to Free People?! I was initially drawn to the bohemian style and stunning aesthetics, because they were so unlike anything else in the market. FP made me feel confident and comfortable, and created a whole experience.
Proudest work moment:
Taylor Swift wearing the Just Because Romper in the new Netflix documentary. I’m still not ok.
What advice would you give someone who’d like to be in your role one day?
Ask questions! You learn so much every day, so do not be afraid to ask for help. Always keep an open mind. Also, making to-do lists are essential.
Favorite part of working at Free People:
The people! You meet and work with SOO many smart, creative people. These individuals push you to think in new ways and expand your horizons. Not to mention, I have made some of my very best friends working for Free People. ❤
Your anthem / theme song?
