for all you ladies out there… boy style! happy friday :)
and, office style!
our senior stylist and creative director both looked awesome today…getting them to take a photo, however, not so easy! ;)
i think i’ve worn this scarf every day since i got it…
love this shirt!
desk space
i could spend hours wandering around our building checking out peoples’ desks… each one is like a window into who that person is – what they love and choose to surround themselves with and the things that inspire them when they’re creating. here are just a few of the amazing desk spaces from around the office…
feng shui at work
our vintage buyer brought an article over to jemma about how to feng shui your desk at work, and i immediately decided my desk needed a makeover. my feng shui was all wrong… and with the beautiful weather we’re having today it felt like a good time to do some spring cleaning!
(the article is from whole living magazine)
here’s what my workspace looked like before – a cluttered mess!
to feng shui my desk i followed the instructions above as well as i could with what i have here at work. i put my plant, dreamcatcher and buddha figurine in the back left (or top left) area, with a photo of the sunset over the pacific in the background to make it feel as zen as possible. the bottom left area has a collage of photos from my latest trip, just kids, “music we like” from amoeba (a great music reference), my little journal and peaceful accents of blue. at the top right i have photos of loved ones and notes and cards from friends at work, and at the bottom right i hung some scraps of fabric to inspire creativity.
here’s the end result:
it may not look much different but it sure feels better! now i just need to feng shui my apartment…
office style
everyone looks so lovely in the office today! i noticed a theme of pretty vintage and flowy dresses over leggings with socks and sandals or ankle boots.
i also really loved this tshirt with the pink bra peeking out!
and this jewelry…
and toby’s new spring tie :)
what are you in love with?
valentine’s day isn’t just about your significant other…it’s a celebration of all the things we love in life- even the simplest things. here are some of the things we’re in love with right now!
“i’m in love with my new ring!” – graphic designer
“i’m in love with lipstick! especially my new orange one…and i cant wait till spring to wear the pink one.” – office coordinator
“i love japanese masking tape….it comes in such pretty colors and patterns.” – graphic designer
“girl scout cookies!!!!!” – everyone
“i’m in love with these flowers my friend sent me.” – director of design and image
“i love my cat!” – designer

“i love really old vintage valentines! the free library (in philly) has some that you can look at but they’re so old you’re not allowed to touch them.” – creative director
“my dog monster is my valentine :)” – designer
tell me, what are you in love with right now?
tiny toby
there’s another toby in the office! i met this little ragamuffin the other day when i found him in the hall playing with his ball and squirrel…
toby is quite stylish in his bandana and puffer jacket:
kisses for mom :)
rare rabbits
this month when walking into our cafeteria you must pass by a brigade of jackrabbits, perched alertly on their haunches with their ears straight up in the air, like they’re about to take off running. i looked up the artist who makes them, and the story behind them is pretty cool.
artist beau buck uses recycled materials, including hunting vests, denim, mexican blankets, and even remnants of a betsy ross american flag. he also collects coats, bags and other fashion items that are made with fur, leather, teeth and feathers, and repurposes them as sculptures of the animals they originate from. very neat idea!
his other work is pretty interesting too, check out his website here.
ishknits
the flag poles outside building 543 down here at the navy yard got a little makeover today! this “yarn bomb” is the work of artist jessie hemmons of ishknits. i’ve posted about yarn bombing before – i think its such an interesting phenomenon that has been growing in recent years, with various crocheted objects popping up all over the world – a lot of it done anonymously.
if you live in the philadelphia area, chances are you’ve seen some of jessie’s work (pictured above). however, she told me that in some areas (like old city, where i live), city officials will have the artwork removed when they spot it. why would anyone want to do that? i think it’s beautiful, and i’m thrilled that we now have bright pink flag poles at the navy yard as it feels very appropriate for free people :)
check out the ishknits website here.
