we’re very excited to be opening a new store at space 15 twenty in los angeles!

if you’re not familiar with space 15 twenty, its a unique retail setting where each store is connected by an outdoor courtyard, and includes a performance space for live music, an art gallery, and a monthly pop up shop.

wild goose chase

lately i’ve really been loving the work of scotland-based artist fiona watson, using feathers, flowers, and other found items…

these are from her series called “an unwritten book”

the feathers and wishbones are so awesome. check out more of her beautiful work on her flickr page or website.

stream

stream is a photograph projection show curated by jennilee marigomen, who i posted about last weekend. it’s taking place tonight in baltimore (pent house gallery) and LA (space 15 twenty), and if you’re able to attend either one, DO. among the many photographers in the show is marcelo gomes, who we posted about on our blog back in august…his work is unbelievable:

coachella

the lineup for this year’s coachella music festival was announced yesterday…and man i really wish i could go.  but check out this poster…i think they’re getting a little extreme with the varying font sizes, don’t you?  yes, i know that the larger bands are “headliners” but still, i had to take a second look to even notice some of the smaller bands that are playing.  actually, i’m more interested in some of the ones you can barely see…like les claypool, edward sharpe & the magnetic zeros, girls, beach house, deerhunter and big pink.  apparently, fader was on the same wavelength as me…check out their funny article about the poster here.

the lineup still looks amazing though…if you’re having trouble reading it above, check it out here.  what do you all think? anyone going to go?

wednes-diy

i really want to try and make a rag rug.  i’ve been looking around online for tutorials on how to do it, and i’m so inspired just by pictures of them!  i think they’re so beautiful and a perfect way to use up any fabric you might have lying around.

these images are from the rag rug flickr group (yes, there is one)…check it out here…believe me, you will be inspired.

apparently there are several ways to make a rag rug…some tutorials involve crocheting, like this one on vintage chica.  but if you don’t know how to crochet (like me) you can still make a rag rug just by braiding the fabric!

moda bake shop has a really great tutorial showing you step by step how to do it. once you’ve picked out the fabric you want to use, cut it into long strips and just start to braid! start at the center of the rug and work your way outwards, forming a circle with your braid as shown in the images above. once you’ve finished, just sew the rows of braids together! for the full tutorial click here.

i can’t wait to try it!
