When done right, the combination of plaid and floral can look amazing — it’s such a cool mixture of boy and girl elements. But perfecting this style can be tricky, so I asked our stylist Mandi to share her tips on how to mix plaid and floral in a way that works well. Read More
Grunge is one of those trends that experiences frequent resurgences, and every time it comes back around we like to give it a new twist to make it fresh and exciting. This season we love giving grunge an unexpected girly element by mixing florals with plaids, whether it is in the form of a boldly printed maxi dress or a sweater. Read More
Our store girls are great at styling looks, so I was really excited to see what they’d come up with for our grunge trend. They did not disappoint!
Kassandra works in our Seattle store – located in the birthplace of grunge at its best, no wonder she rocks the trend so well :)
And lastly, the flannel onesie is (sadly) no longer available, but this look was too good not to share!

Here at the home office we have completely embraced the grunge trend. I think it’s the time of year, chilly weather and the upcoming holidays lend themselves to comfy layering tinged with cool grunge elements – think ripped tees, vests, cozy flannel & thermals, tights & denim and the ever-present beanie. It’s all in the details…
The tattered flag scarf looks awesome over denim and stripes.
I love how our designer paired the floral chambray overall with a delicate blouse – and I especially love that slightly tattered cuff detail!
Ruby’s got her old grunge sweater on too!
We love doc martens!
I <3 the painted distressed boot.
The striped lovebug thermal looks cute under a hoodie vest.
Another fp denim cutoff sighting in a lighter wash.
And not really grunge, but her nails and accessories were too good not to share!
Check out our 90’s grunge inspired december lookbook!
The trend we are featuring on our website this week is very close to my heart: Grunge. As someone who grew up mostly in the 90’s, I know the importance of that perfectly beat up pair of jeans, soft over-sized flannel and ripped, worn-through t-shirt that you just can’t seem to part with. I watched My So Called Life religiously, had a crush on Jordan Catalano and wanted to be Rayanne Graff. I listened to Nirvana and Pearl Jam on cassette tape and wore Doc Martens. Grunge will always be that one trend for me that I never tire of, and will always wear, because to me its more than a trend – it’s part of who I am.
