UPDATE: This post originally ran February 22, 2012 but lately I have become re-enamored with the idea of apothecary bottle necklaces! I particularly love this little one Brigette has, and I really want to fill one with sand from the beach so I can wear summer around my neck all winter long… Read More

Push by Pushmataaha is a jewelry line created in 2007 by Australian filmmaker and art collector Virginia Rouse. Inspired by a lifelong love of stones and Native American jewelry, Virginia works with real metals in the creation of the pieces and combines this with the beauty of organic, semi-precious stones handcrafted by master artisans. Don’t Forget! Today is your last chance to enter our Leap Day Giveaway! We’ll pick a winner at the end of the day, 2/29 :)
We wanted to do something special to celebrate this rare occasion, so we did a little bit of spring cleaning in our accessories department and scrounged up some awesome stuff to give away. I organized the accessories into goodie bags for each fp girl – meaning we’ll have five winners!
All you have to do is click here and fill out the brief form, and tell us which fp girl you are.
Happy Leap Day!
The brand was founded by Australian art director and stylist duo Melanie Kamsler and Tamila Purvis, two talented women who met while working at RUSSH magazine. Drawing on inspiration from old and new – ancient historical figures, artists, muses and cult musicians – they create pieces that are sculptural and heavy with mysticism. Read More
There’s something special happening next week – something that doesn’t happen very often… Leap Day! Read More
Have you ever looked at a girl and thought, “there’s someone who knows what fashion is?” This week’s Style File is one of those girls. She’s not scared of an Avant Garde print or dressing head-to-toe in monochromatic tomato red. Her styling is spot on, the way one images a top fashion editor being styled. Although she always looks relaxed and comfortable, you just know that she’s into fashion. The sweater she throws on is perfectly nubby, and oh, that insanely cool necklace she’s wearing? It’s the logo for her friends’ young fashion line that is blowing up in the UK right now. Her style is flawless with great attention to detail. Look close and you’ll see a dreamy braid hidden in her waves. This girl knows how to dress herself.

Brooke Studded Satchel
I just bought these bad boys! The Mainland Studded Boatshoe – if you love ’em too, hurry up and grab a pair they’re going quick!
I love how the Pyramid Ring looks when the light hits it.
One of our biggest obsessions of the moment: studs.
We can’t get enough of them! On t-shirts, bags, jewelry, leather, and especially shoes – any kind of shoe – we love the cool factor they add to standard styles. What do you think about studs, do you love them as much as we do?
Check out our Hard Wear collection – there are some pretty rad studded vintage tees you don’t wanna miss!
Our Assistant Graphic Designer is fairly new to the company. She came on the scene with a giant smile and quirky style. To my experience, she showed up in a meeting one day with bright points to contribute and a dress that was to die. Graphically, her designs feel fresh. Fashion-wise, she has a cool vintage look and sticks too it. It’s full of tough to replicate, one-of-a-kind items that always come together perfectly. In Free People terms – the Molly style with its own spin – of this tiny, beautiful, and full-of-light character are freshly inspirational. Read on and see what I mean… Read More
I have been into really thin rings in a big way lately – I keep spotting them on blogs and tumblr, and I love how delicate they look. Rumi rocks two little gold bands in the left photo, and on the right are a set of three that my dad gave me for Christmas (it’s crazy – he has the best taste in jewelry). Read More
This week’s style file is our Associate Buyer for accessories, who traveled to the US from England to work at Free People. Her style is quirky and avant garde. It’s full of color and pattern – often with a theme like neon or turquoise. I love the risks she takes. There’s no fear, and nothing is too outrageous. It is, however, always inspiring.

The skull bracelet is available in FP stores!
Yesterday I left work around 5pm to head to our brand new store on Walnut Street in Philadelphia. We were having a private celebration for home office employees, family and friends before the doors officially opened this morning. From the moment I walked through the carved wooden door, I felt like I was in a very special place. If you live in the area, I definitely recommend making the trip to see the store in person – but if not, I hope these photos can do it some justice!
The view from the upstairs loft.
The upstairs fitting room area is cozy and tranquil – I literally could live here. The fitting rooms were painted by five of our amazing fp girls, who made them truly special and unique.
Intimates hang delicately on subtly sparkling walls.
How amazing are the patchwork rugs?! A great DIY project, perhaps…
I adore the brick wall and necklaces hanging from nails – I bought one of these zodiac necklaces – you can only find them in our stores! I also love the falling whistles.
Former Belle put on an awesome show!
It was such a magical night. Stay tuned for another post, on two of my favorite parts of the store!
