Venice has always been a city that intrigued me. I have never been there, but having studied a lot of Art History in college, it was always a place that signified fine art, gothic architecture, romantic music and exquisite fashion. The city’s layout, with ribbons of canals running through it, and iconic imagery like the masks of carnival, made the city seem almost other-wordly in my mind… a decadent gem floating mysteriously off of Italy’s coast, its own unique entity. Guy Aroch’s photography heightens these sensations and confirms in my mind that I will visit this city one day.
Stay tuned because our team put together a beautiful guide to Venice – I will share it with you soon!
Guy Aroch has done it again. His genius is clearly not limited to photography – his video to accompany our August catalog, shot in Venice featuring models Marloes Horst and Darla Baker, is breathtaking. It tells the story of two girls on a globetrotting adventure, exploring the streets and canals of Venice armed with maps and cameras. They go site-seeing and dine on spaghetti and gelato, meet a handsome Italian and don carnival masks and evening gowns for nights out on the town. As one of our readers stated last week and I couldn’t have said better, it seems like Guy Aroch just happened to be there and spontaneously decided to capture the moment on film.
Our featured jewelry designer this month is Carol Marie, a line launched by designers Jennifer Carol Kramer and Heather Marie White based on their love for statement pieces and belief that a certain piece of jewelry can transform your look. Their pieces are strong enough to be worn on their own, but designed to be layered together. Their Ethiopian Double Cross Necklace is featured throughout our August catalog, along with the gorgeous Sapphire Tiered Jewel Necklace, Hinged Studded Cuff, Studded Enamel Bangle and Large Amulet Pendant.
on the left – a more layered look; on the right – stunning simplicity.
Even amidst the beautiful Venetian scenery and clothing, these pieces stand out and certainly do make a statement. Antique metals, romantic details, glowing jewels and architectural elements make them the perfect pieces to be featured in this book as they reflect the characteristics of the city of Venice itself.
Our August book was shot in Venice, Italy by the one and only Guy Aroch, featuring models Marloes Horst and Darla Baker. It is romantic, dreamy, sophisticated and full of intrigue – everything I imagine Italy to be. The book drops next week, and here’s a little preview!
The catalog drops on Tuesday, I can’t wait to show you more!
