fp interns – allie

we’ve had 7 interns with us at the home office this summer…most of them are heading back to school now.
allie worked on our planning team. see below…she learned so much while she was here!

things i have learned this summer:
• contrary to my suspicions, ap physics actually DOES come in handy in the real world. understanding “velocity” is crucial to becoming an accomplished planner or allocator.
• WTF does not stand for “what the ****!”…it stands for We The Free
• i have learned to proficiently read without vowels. for example, “hey jamie. how are you allocating that L/S SLD VNK XTRM BTTNDWN MNSWR B/D PCKT TNK? i really like it”
• planners like numbers so much that they have made a numerical equivalent for almost every word used in the retail world.
• IT is your best friend
• ProClarity is your worst
• make mistakes, it’s how you learn. however, make the same mistake twice, shame on you.
• be open to new opportunities. don’t turn your nose up at something until you are fully educated about it.
• incorporate design into all aspects of your life. be creative, be influential, and let yourself be open to influence.
• have energy and stay inspired.
• never settle for anything less than your dream job because…
• success and happiness are interchangeable.

“my friend (dustin fenstermacher) just showed me his website and I’m in love with his pictures!! right now he is working on putting together a book of cat show pictures. i’m trying to tag along to a cat show with him because they look amazing!! i don’t know which one i’ll enjoy more, the fancy cats galore or the fantastic people watching.”

bon iver

you know julie, the call center supervisor who was just profiled here yesterday…
well, she was kind enough to write up a little something about one of her favorite musicians, bon iver…
read on, and enjoy.

“Like a quick shot of brandy warming your belly on a cold winter day, Bon Iver sparks a fire in the pit of your stomach and works his way out. His music is layered and reflective, his story-telling frank and selfless. I first found out about him when reading about “Blood Bank”, his latest EP. It was recorded in a remote cabin in Wisconsin, Iver’s home state. The EP is a follow-up to his full length, “For Emma, Forever Ago” which was released in 2008 to much acclaim. Justin Vernon (aka Bon Iver) is building momentum in the US indie charts thanks to a rigorous tour schedule and rave reviews from respected critics.
His music evokes the crisp winter air along with the silence you encounter when you step outside after a brutal snowstorm. He is a single snow flake falling from a white sky, a single voice touching your soul. I encourage everyone to take a listen to Blood Bank and let it captivate you as it did me.”
