Holiday Entertaining With Kelli Murray

This post comes from FP Me user, blogger and friend,  Kelli Murray!

I’m Kelli. An illustrator, graphic designer and blogger based in California. Art and creativity is my passion, and when I’m not doing the mom thing with my two kiddos, you’ll most likely find me painting, sewing, styling or crafting in one form or another.

November is definitely my favorite time of year. Holiday parties are on the horizon, the season of gift-giving has begun, decorations are being pulled out and gatherings of friends and family are soon to come. I am even looking forward to dressing for the colder weather!  We have had a terribly hot summer that lasted well into fall, so the fact that I can finally dress in layers is more exciting than it ought to be.

Today I’m sharing a unique take on a holiday inspired tablescape that’s perfect for your upcoming gatherings, big or small. I wanted to create something natural and pretty, without all of the glitz and glamour that typically go along with the holidays, but also a table that felt thought out, with just the right amount of festive. What’s more, this is something that you can easily put together on your own!

Check out my entertaining tips, below, and be sure to scroll down for an exclusive download I’ve created just for you:

For the florals, I worked alongside Bloemhill. We chose a simple selection of white flowers that we arranged in vintage glass bottles and bud vases, and then used olive branches to spread along the length of the table.  I worked with a soft palate of white and blush, brought to life with greenery and a mix of metals – gold, silver and copper – in the dinner and glassware (via Hostess Haven). Glitter-tipped feathers were spread throughout and copper leafing was applied to some of the olive branches for some added sparkle. If you have an overhead light fixture, it’s always fun to add some greenery to it for a more dramatic look.

I’ve included a set of free printables for you to download on your own and add to your table settings as well!

Check out the links below and follow the steps to add the copper leaf to your stationary:

km6

Supplies:
Ivory cardstock
Home Printer
Scissors
Copper Leaf
Metal Leaf Adhesive

km1

1.  Download and print your favorite design:

You can use pre-cut A7 (5″ x 7″) cards, or print out on a standard sized paper and cut to size.

km2

2. Using a clean straight edge (I used another piece of card stock), cover your card, leaving only a 1/2″ showing at the top.  Spray with the Metal Leaf Adhesive.

3. Carefully take out one sheet of Copper Leaf and place it on top of where you applied the adhesive.  It will stick to it easily.  This can get messy, but I happen to like it better when the leaf looks imperfect and creased.

km3

4.  Repeat this process with the bottom edge.

For the small deer cards (4.25″ x 5.5″) all you need is a glue pen and some glitter.

km4

Add small dots around the circumference of the wreath and sprinkle on your glitter. Enjoy!

So dreamy! I love the way they are so ethereal, it’s as though you’d find this table set in the middle of a forest.

I’m so with you on dressing for the wintry weather! Something about bringing out the scarves warms my soul. Adore the humble table and florals, it’s just so inviting. Beautiful work. xo

LOVE IT!! Thank you for the card making directions—so clear I think even I can do it! Love that you’ve used original greenery. It adds class and festive to your lovely tablescape.

Wow,
. I was in Tuscany last autumn and I visited Chianti, Siena, Florence and San Gimigano.
We stayed in a farmhouse in Colle Val di Elsa with pool and a beautiful garden
The farmhouse’s name was Pieve di San Martino. The apartments are clean and well and tastefully furnished. From the pool you can enjoy a wonderful landscape in Chianti.
